Gardening Books And Magazines

Lorain, OH(Zone 5b)

Hi Dave, CONGRADULATIONS on #1000, I was wondering if you might be interested in starting a books & magazines or Other gardening misc.(plant markers, windchimes, birdhouses, etc. ) trade list. I have been tradeing them on seed & plant swap sites (successfully) For about 2 years now, but I've never seen a forum devoted to this type of swap. I have some listed here now, and have had some responses. Do you think anyone else might be interested?

Hi MicheleN,

With the new trade list, you can certainly add the items into the trade list with categories you create. Then just post a message in both of the trade forums, inviting people to look at your list. Tell them you have these items available. Hope this helps.

Thanks SMSpear1,
I'll do that, but I was hoping that some other folks might join in on the fun. I HAVE to have books or magazines at work because We 3 that work there don't take lunch at the same time or have internet access. If I don't have something to read at lunch time I get stirr-crazy, plus gardening books are so expensive, and I read my magazines in about 2 days. When my Grandpa died my sisters thought I was crazy for taking all his old gardening magazines, now I just cann't bring myself to throw them away, he was a thrifty man and would understand my trading them for plants or other magazines. I just thought that it would be a new resource.

I bet Grandpa's magazines had a lot of information in them that's just a fresh today as it was when the magazines were printed. Do you have any sort of a "complete" collection, such as all the issues from a particular year?

Great Idea. I cant throw them out either! I go thru them every now and then because I just might get an idea from something I see. The way I see it is this.
If I see something I like, somewhat, then I change it around to what suits me, then the whole thing was worth it.
And if it dosent hit me the first time then it may hit me the second time around!!
Guess I am either desperate for Spring or I have too much time on my hands.

SMSpear1 Yes I do have a couple Complete years, I have been through them & wrote down all info that I felt I could use, in a nice journel that my hubby's Grandpap gave me. The 1990's Rodales were from a Chrustmas gift subscription from his Grandpap. I have been fortunate to have these wonderful Grandfathers in my life, and my Mom 'the original hippie' Allthough; recently she wandered off with ALL my "Mother Earth News" Magazines :) I have been looking for a book called "Carrots Love Tomatoes" and issues of a magazine called "Sage Woman" so if you hear any thing about them let me know.

Hi MicheleN,

I will keep my eyes open for you as I wander around the web for the book and magazines you are looking for. Sometimes I stumble across things in the most unusual places.
