Join the Address Exchange

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

Telling you a bit more about it:
I started the address exchange so that members may send each other little cards or little somethings on their birthday or throughout the year. That way, it will always be a surprise when you get that special something as you won't know when someone may want to surprise you or send you a little note just to say they're thinking of you. We have 50+ people in this list already and if you would like to join, just e-mail me with your snail mail address, your DG name and real name, your preference of having your e-mail listed or not, your birthday or any other day that's special to you (only month/day), and maybe a few things that you like so that someone who wants to surprise you can get an idea of what to get you. There's no obligation to anything and we are doing this merely to have fun and to get to know each other better.
Please don't feel that you're obligated to send everyone something. I would never expect that as I don't have the money to do that either. I started this to have a list of members so if I am thinking of someone or feel that they could use a smile on their face or a little surprise.....I can just send them something in the mail without having to post or e-mail for their address.........it wouldn't be much of a surprise this way. I know many of you are busy and don't have much time for many things and I don't want you to feel that you would disappoint someone if you didn't send anything but are on the list and I hope that those who are on the list wouldn't expect to get a gift or something from everyone else because people just can't afford to give to everyone. I want to have fun with this and be able to send a small surprise to someone here and there :o)
Join in and let's have fun!!!!!
Have a Happy Holiday and a great day!!

Susan
aka Flowox

I update periodically and send files out in the format of Notepad and Works Spreadsheet(not Excel) so everyone should be able to open one or the other and needs to just replace the old one with the new one that I send when doing the updates :o)

Thanks flowox for setting this up, sounds like fun. John

Hi, I am computer illiterate, does that mean I would get the info as an attachment? I can click on the paperclips, but due to my illness, I have a lot of difficulty in learning things since date of onset. I am just thankful, I learned about e-mail and internet before CFS. Would be interested if it is in that form.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

yes Marcia, I will send 2 different attachments, one of which I know you will be able to open (notepad), the other is in MS Works Spreadsheet. They are both the same information so if you can't open the spreadsheet where it's all layed out a little nicer, you still have all the information available in Notepad form which every PC should be able to open. I then periodically send out updates........it will be the same file with the new info added to it, so all you do is click "overwrite" or "replace" whichever it will ask you (varies by computers) and you're set to go. You won't have to add anything yourself unless you wish to :o)

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Marcia - Yes, they're attachments. The best thing to do is save them to your hard drive. Just click once on the attachment and choose SAVE (there should be a button or menu choice in your e-mail letting you do this). Just remember where you saved it - a lot of people use the My Documents folder because it's easy to remember and to get back to.

What's nice is, Flowox sends the whole updated file each time there's an update; you just save the file over the old one, replacing it each time. It's great! :o)

Announcing great success!!!!!!!
We have over 70 people in the list.........woohoo......thanks guys, you've made this a really great success...........I never expected such a turnout and it's been allot of work to compile it all but it's been fun and hopefully it will keep growing as new people join the wonderful Dave's Garden :o)
We are like one great family..........feels good to have such good friends as you

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Flowox, it is amazing to see what you have accomplished on your own initiative. I know it took a lot of work and dedication, but you have created a tool most of us will not want to be without. So often, I wanted that kind of info and didn't have it or time to dig it out. I have mine in a folder called "Susan's Lists". Thanks for your perserverance.

Surry, VA(Zone 7b)

Flowox, like Aimee said you have put alot of time and effort into this project. I just want to say thanks for making it happen.

Montrose, PA(Zone 5a)

WOW SUSAN YOU ARE DOING SUCH A GREAT JOB KEEPING UP WITH ALL THE UPDATES! I'D PROBABLY BE WORN OUT BY NOW!

We sure do have quite a list.
I'm sure that there will be some who won't want to join in on this;either too busy with other things or they may just not like to have their address made public, or just shy, like me.....Used to be,but opening up more and more. Still don't like large crowds tho.

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

Aren't any new members wanting to join the address exchange? It would be great to get more people to it =)

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I love having the address exchange. I printed it out in Word and now have it bound like a book. I carry it with me when I'm packing trades and usually have the addresses right there. I love how she has it listed by screen name.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Evert, they might not have known about it. thanks for bringing this back to the front!

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

tiG, yes, it was what I thought - to pop this back up. ;)

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

thanks Evert, we did have a couple new ones signed up and as soon as I get it back together on my side (a few hours or so) I should have it updated and will send it out to everyone later today :)

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

Blum, TX(Zone 8a)

Susan I have coppied the list twice. I'm not sure if I have recent update.I keep it in two folders. one folder is for misc and the other folder is for trades.that way I don't have to wonder which folder To look in.It helps me to learn more about members without getting so confused with real names..member names and nicknames. also where they reside. I take the list to lay down and rest.I add other members that are not on the list yet .that I have gotten privately.

Circleville, OH(Zone 8b)

Hi Susan do you have my new addy info?

If not e-mail me.

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

Susan,
I can't find mine because I think it got erased and I didn't keep a back up. Shame on me but can you send it again?

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

Oklahoma City, OK(Zone 7a)

Thanks for doing this, Susan.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

if you're on the list and did not get an e-mail from me with an update around 10:30pm tonight (eastern time) then I don't have your e-mail anymore due to a reformat not too long ago. Please e-mail me. I'll compile a list of everyone who I don't have tomorrow

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Susan, I so appreciate this service you have taken upon yourself to provide. I know you have other considerations that are demanding, and it is just plain good of you to do this out of your own limited resources and energy. I do rely on these lists heavily. I keep a shortcut on my desktop, and it's the first place I go when I need an address or other information. Thank you!

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

You are all very welcome..........you're right though Aimee, my life has been in a sort of uproar lately and I'm having a hard time mentally dealing with things the last few weeks and have been very emotional. I like doing things for my friends here though so it kinda keeps me going :)

i didn't get the list and i was on it before do i need to remail my info to you? thank you very much for all your hard work. We do appreciate it! :)

Fairchild Air Force , WA(Zone 7a)

Thanks so much!

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

midwest, I still have your info, just not your e-mail anymore :(
You're still on the list, just send me your e-mail and I'll e-mail it to you :)

Anyone else who didn't get it but is on the list, just send me an e-mail asking me for a copy. Your info is still in the list, you just didn't you e-mail listed and I lost it in Outlook when I reformatted

Crossville, TN

I have saved each list you sent...overridding the previous. I printed out the first copy, and since you are kind enough to list any changes, I just note them on my Master Copy. Being a "roadrunner" I take it with me when I travel...never know when I'll need it. I do wish more people would put their email addresses on it, that way I don't have to go to DG to send email to them. Susan, you are so good to do this! Thanks and (((((Susan))))). Jo

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Man, I need to buy some stamps!

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

thanks RR :)
When I had the idea for this I had no idea that we were going to get that many people to join the list. I am truly amazed and glad to do it :)

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Susan . . . just received my list today that you emailed me. It is great and I wanted to thank you for putting in so much time and effort on this project. Do you email everyone with updates periodically? If so, would you send me updates. Thanks again . . Frannie

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

BrugNanny, whenever there is an update, it gets sent out to everyone on the list so you'll get one if there is one :)

Thanks for the praise everyone, really does feel nice to be helpful in a way :)

Grove City, OH(Zone 6a)

Pulling this back up to the top for all our new friends. Flowox, will you be maintaining this list or does someone else need to step up?

I'm not comfortable with training our new members to give out their address or other personal information to any members, except in situations where a trade is being initiated.

Members who wish to share is one thing, but soliciting this information from new members isn't something that I'm terribly excited about.
