This plant/weed has suddenly showed up and is taking over my front flower bed - have no clue where it came from or what it is - any help will be appreciated

Although I've never grown it, it looks like amarantha, a grain. some varieties of which have attractive flowering such as Loves Lies Bleeding (shame on you for not knowing that). I have read it can spread quickly, but surprising you could have that dense a patch without some previously.
