Does anyone else hate bath gels?

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

I love the way they smell but that is it. I don't like the feeling they leave on your skin. You keep rinsing and rinsing and you still feel slimmy. I don't know why people keep giving it to you when they know you use lavender soap.
WHY WHY :)

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

oh HoniBee, I know what you mean.........I hate getting out of a tub or shower and feel all oily or slimy.......can't stand it. I don't like that stuff either. I like the smell, but not how it feels on the skin

Flo,
I am glad there is someone else that hates it. I am off to make Coco's million dollar fudge and tiG's soap. Well not together. Best make the soap first and then candy.

Kitchener, ON(Zone 5A)

Let us know how they turn out Honi. I'd like to try the soap after the holidays when I have more time.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

I must have missed the soap thing, did she post a recipe?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

it's for laundry soap, and it's in the dirt cheap forum, it may be a few pages back now. I didn't start the thread, I use the same recipe though.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

hey, I found these laundry balls at Value City here. They do 60 loads each and they actually work. They were 39cents for 2 balls. I will have to go back and see if I can get more :o)

If you want the recipe email tiG LOL HAHA

I love bath salts, gels anything, I usually shower, so it gives me an excuse to take a real bath. Wish I'd known earlier that you love lavender soap.
Honibee, did your soap set up? It might take all afternoon, just stir it every once in a while.

tiG,
I heated it again and it mixed up great. Guess I didn't get it hot enough.

I love the bath gels and stuff. better than alot of soaps. most soap is to drying. :)

Love bath gels, our water is so hard we use baby oil on our skin just before the final rinse, otherwise we itch all day!!!

Now, what I hate are those gift cheeses that don;t need refrigeration...

Redrose, did you find that the Avon Skin-so-soft kept away the mosquitos? That is what it is used for often here in NJ. John

Hempstead, TX(Zone 8b)

i don't like bath gels. the perfume they use makes me break out in a good rash. but i get some perfume stuff every yr.(same person though they have been told about my alergy) i use it to make the bathroom smell good. and i send some to my neice. i used to love skin so soft but the bugs in texas don't know the rules lol.

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

I also used to use Skin so Soft many moons ago when Avon was all the rage. Remember all those lovely pots with solid perfumes. The bath oil had a lovely scent but my did it ever leave a greasy film in the tub!!

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

I love the aromas of those gift sets, but don't like the slimy feeling, either. I also break out if I use scented body washes and the like. I have to stick with soaps. A week or so ago I bought myself two luxuries at the Dollar Store: oatmeal/almond soap and lavendar soap, both by Yardley. :o) AAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

yes, john good for use skin- so- soft for misquito also good use for dog or cat to rid of flea what i got from mini.

"down the Shore", NJ(Zone 7a)

Redrose, I use brewer's yeast in my dog's food, wonderful for helping to prevent fleas. It is a healthy vitamin, but makes the dogs smell bad to the fleas! John

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

i hate soap! it leaves some residue or 'film' on the skin that make one itch. soap also have the tendency to block our pores. i only use Nutregina bath gel, leaves the skin nice & smooth. i do not find it slimy as i use moderate amount press on a luffa. it rinses pretty good too. nutregina bath gel give me that fresh clean feeling all the time.

John I've been giving my cats yeast tablets for years now but can't find it over here without the garlic. I just want plain and simple yeast!! On our recent trip to England the first thing I bought was soap. Wonderful, creamy, heavenly soap!!! I did, almost grudgingly (lol) send one person here a bar of it but I don't think she quite enjoyed the scent as much as I do :-).

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

I use skin so soft on the dog for extra flea control along with the tablets and for myself to keep the mosquitos off in the summer when I am in the yard.

John,
I am with you I hate those cheeses also. They are scary.

Rose,
The bath gels or shower gels are sold everywhere.
Garden,
That is where I got my Lavender soap. That is mostly all I use.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Aren't the Dollar Stores GREAT? :-D

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

I love the shower gels and body creme from Bath and Body Works. Juniper Breeze is my favorite. So clean smelling. Last spring I tried orange blossom and I love that too.

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

I loved the Sarah Michaels Ocean Breeze bath gel, but they discontinued it. I ordered a case online, and have several tubes left, but it seems to have changed in the tube I'm using now. I wonder if the reason they changed it is that it wasn't a stable formula and had a short shelf life. With my extremely hard water, I can use gels and still feel dry. Avon SSS was a favorite, but it also seems different now, maybe my chemistry changed. As far as the ring, I noticed that the ring collected all of the dirt that would make a real ring, and you could easily wipe the SSS ring off with a cloth or sponge. A spritz of tub spray and a wipedown left a clean tub.
