Where is everyone?

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

Ok, so I'm sitting here, clicking refresh like mad hoping to get in on the conversation in a forum........but nothing new.........where are you guys? Am I the only one sitting here :o)
If you have MSN messenger, could you add me? I'd love to chat and not sit here so bored.........it's dgbig1 :o)

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

lol - I'm here!! Just finished watching the 'new' Castaway on BBC and Garden Force meets Changing Rooms - quite good!!

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

sounds like fun.......I don't have cable, so I don't get to watch much TV although my DBF's friend records some television for us but I just watch those over and over and over........lol

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

Well much of the BBC stuff is repeated over and over but now and again it's brand new. Just wish those guys in the garden would fly over here and help me start on mine :-)

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

yeah, that would be a nice surprise, wouldn't it.......lol. They need to have a garden show for people who don't have allot of money to spend......lol. I see all the stuff they do sometimes (if I'm lucky to get a channel in upstairs.....lol) and I just say "I wish someone would give me the money to go buy that so I could do that" but you know what........no one ever shows up to give me that money.......lol

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

Yes but you are so young and have plenty time to buy this and that - you can't have everything overnight :-) It's muscle power I want...lol!!

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

Yes, I know........I just need to be patient.........that's what my DBF says :o) He says we're not poor, we're just conservative. By the time he's 50 he wants to retire and we'll buy an RV and just travel. He's already invested in stocks and his 401 so 15 years and we're on the road.......lol........I can't wait

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

So does that mean then - no garden???

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

NO GARDEN? Did she say that??? I'm afraid I reached the age when I thought I would travel, too late. I now know I can't bear to leave my gardens behind, don't have enough gypsy blood. Once I had a choice, I learned a lot about me. Occasional travel is okay, but I must have a base and must be on base frequently. I can see me at the RV park, snipping this and that, crowding us out of the potty, the kitchen, the space between the seats so I can be near my plants. Along the outer walls and on the roof, I would have to build racks and shields so my plants could travel in comfort. Pretty soon, I would get 1 mile to the gallon, soil being heavy. Guess I'm just too much a homebody. But a quick trip with Imaseedpicker to see our grands in the NW would be nice.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

well, growing up a military brat so to speak, and having been married to a GI, I was always used to traveling. I don't think I've lived in one place more than 2 years at a time. I've been to 9 different schools in 12 years, in German schools til 8th grade then american schools. I've been in this town now since '91 and moving just keeps sounding better all the time :o) I like change and having the same thing around to me gets old and boring. I can't wait to travel, but until we do, I will plant flowers and watch the months and years pass with my plants :o)

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

Oh my dear!!!! I too was born into the Royal Air Force and that's the way it has been all my life - until just over a year ago. I have now put my roots down and I thank God for that!! I empathise Aimee - your gardens must be so nurtured and loved and I envy you.

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Louisa, I wish they were! They wish they were. Loved, yes, but totally neglected for almost two years. It's sad to look at the result of terrible droughts and my illness, but encouraging to realize that I am getting better at last and will rebuild it better than ever. We moved a lot in my childhood, and then I married a college student and it was necessary to move as we got a bigger apartment, had more kids, graduated, all the things that young folks do. I have lived here for 12 years, and that's longer than I ever lived anywhere in my life. But I do understand the itchy feet. Given my history, and considering that I have a grandson and two great grands that I've never seen because of health problems, I must encourage you to travel while you can, because when it's over, it's so over. I went half way around the world twice, but there is so much I will never see and I regret that. Life truly is too short!

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

But Aimee, I don't have itchy feet!! They stopped itching long, long ago - after I worked myself to death on my English garden that was to be my retirement home. Left me with serious back, neck and leg problems but I hated to leave it. It's a long story but I had no intention of coming to the States - life springs many surprises. I guess my journey was not over - but I sincerely hope it is now - unless I move to Germany of course...lol!! Yes, moving around all the time at a younger age is fun and I'm sure you really enjoyed it with your family. I can remember being on the SS Devonshire and sailing to Malta from England with my parents and siblings and then the air trips to Cyprus, Singapore, Germany, Ireland.......it was fun!! Married a British airman, had two kids and then I lost him to cancer when he was 45. And now, here I am in the US - I can't believe it sometimes :-)

Hi Flo, Louisa & Aimee - I'm here but just got back from the children's Christmas program at church - took two of my Grandaughters, and DH sings in the choir. It's been a busy weekend keeping the 8 year old and 18 month old sisters but fun of course. Now they are gone home and I am bushed. You know why God didn't let women over 50 have babies, don't you?? Because they would forget where they put them, lol!! I don't want to travel much anymore either - I hate to ask my busy neighbors to water for me and I traveded quie a bit when I was much younger - learned there's no place like home. Just the six hour trip to Biloxi now & then is enough for me.

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

Azalea - good evening!! Yes it's difficult when it comes to leaving pets and gardens for others to attend to whilst we are away from home. In my case, it was tours abroad rather than vacations. They usually lasted three to six years. Still, you are not too far from Biloxi. My grandkids are in Chicago and Germany. Now I'm calling it a day - my neck is really giving me problems tonight. Maybe we can chat some more tomorrow. Sleep well :-) Goodnight Flowox and Aimee, thanks for the company!!
