That was some wind Sharon.
It was almost a frost here for a night and a day, I shoved stuff on porch and a few in the garage because we are going back into the 70s.
Plant Propagation Discussions - July 2020
Ouch, looks like that was quite the wind
So, I've gone from 2 Tradescantia zebrina, up to 8 of them now.. I can see why people have a love/hate relationship with it, closer to its range. The T. pallida took forever to root in water, maybe 2 months? And the only batch that rooted were the ones in the bowl I let the water stagnate and evaporate in.. Only rooting out AFTER the water dropped below the node levels. I still have 2 other stems sitting in just Distilled, growing and flowering with no desire to push roots. I notice the habit of the two is fairly different too.. Interesting plants.
I was hoping to start tracking this stuff in the Journals, but they decided to do away with them.. Shame. Maybe it's better to keep those things under the specific plants anyway, for easier reference.
Now it's time to get focused on the Peppers!!
Hope everyone is having a safe and blessed holidays!
Hope you had a nice holiday CraftyFox. I'm not propagating much this winter, although I will try a cold stratification on 2 native milkweed species I have failed with in the past. If I fail again I just won't have milkweed. All the tropicals are bad for monarchs who then breed in the US (I'm in north Texas btw) and don't make it to Mexico, or they pick up OE and it weakens them and the butterflies they come in contact with and I am simply tired of arguing with the native plant people.
There are 2 trains of thought. one being that as long as the milkweed dies or is cut back in winter, it's fine. But again, I'm tired of arguing, and I really need to plant something that will bloom this winter to feed my bees.... butterflies are nice but bees don't like milkweed.
