Whew! After several days of keeping my nose to the grindstone, I'm happy to report we have over 900 companies listed in the Garden Watchdog, and with any luck will have 1,000 within a few more days. I'm particularly proud of the fact that 80% of our listings can be reached online (web site and/or e-mail), making it a lot easier for consumers to make contact. (Dave added this interesting statistic at the top of the site, by the way, along with the percentage of companies that have been rated.)
Speaking of Dave, he has added a really nifty feature that lets you enter your home ZIP code to see the companies that are closest to you (since some of us enjoy poking around a nursery as much as getting a package in the mail.) Check it out - it's really handy!
A huge thanks to all of you who have helped add companies and rate the companies you've done business with. I encourage everyone to keep checking back, since more companies are finding their way in there all the time - you never know when you'll find another company you can provide feedback for.
So in case you thought ya'll had gotten rid of me for good, sorry - no such luck! I'll be back around here soon enough, hanging out and pestering everyone with goofy questions and silly stuff :)
Coming up for air....
Hi! Excellent work you are all doing. I have a question though. I believe there is a cacti/succulent place here in NJ. I have yet to call or go there. Is there a way to dig up more info on them? And Maybe you could put it in your list. I have no idea if it a store or what. I guess the abvious thing would be for me to call, huh! Lol Anyhow here is the info I have found on the web and then I will post back here tomorrow after I call them to see if they have a website or something like that. I would love to know if people have ordered, bought from this place. It's a fair distance away from me and I want to know if it would be worth the trip. Here is the info, along with the link to where I have gotten it.

Thanks a million, and thank you all so very much for putting this together. You have no idea how much this helps me and others, In deciding if we want to order from a certain company or not. I have yet to order online, because I have never been to sure about what I may get. It really does help. And I hope you know you efforts and hard work don't go unnoticed!
Holly
Holly, my contacts are glued to my eyeballs tonight, but I promise tomorrow to put on my "Sherlock Holmes" hat and dig out any and all info on this company that I possibly can. Check back to the GWD soon and you're sure to find them listed. I'm glad you like this feature - it has been a neat project to work on, and I'm glad to know it will benefit a lot of folks :0)
Thanks a lot Go Vols. Ya know I just realized it was kind of rude to ask this of you. You just popped up for some fresh air and here I am bombarding you with more work. Sorry about that. There is no rush, take your time, Even though it doesn't seem it from my post above, I really do have patience....lol SOrry to add more work to your load.
Hope you know you are appreciated and I am grateful for all you and others do for this site.
Thanks Holly

Vols- you've done some WONDERFUL WORK!!! Great job, and LOTS of pats on the back!!!
Now, take a break- and that's an order!!!!!
((((((()))))))
Trish
This Garden Watchdog is so cool. I really enjoy it so much. Thanks for all the hard work!!
I just love Trish's post. From her, it's downright cute. But an order, so obey it, dear.
Awww, thanks ya'll. I wasn't fishing for compliments when I posted, but it is nice to hear ya'll like the GWD (kind of like people telling you that you have a cute baby :)
I took Trish's advice (orders?) and took the night off, and will probably work fewer hours on it from here on out, although there is a slew of companies still out there waiting to be added.
Holly, I have sent a message to the website that posted Desert Dan's Cactus, but I haven't heard back. I'm going to go ahead and put them in the DB, and you may *have* to check them out personally to make sure they do mail-order, and then rate them if you decide to purchase from the, okay? If I hear back from the website folks, I'll update the entry based on their feedback.
hey thanks a lot.. This will really come in handy..
Go-Vols you really have been working to hard and we appreciate very much all your hard work it's a great addition to DG for us all to use and enjoy. Thank you and take a break and let us seeing you posting and having some fun. lol
go_vols, please follow Trish's orders and take a well deserved break. You've contributed 1000% to this site and frankly I don't know how to help you unglue contacts from your eyeballs if you get in a bind. ;o)
Could someone get go_vols onto that bobby headed for the North Pole? I just know the workshop could use that kind of dedicated worker, and some of us would enjoy her company for the trip. We've been known to have some most distinguished folks join our adventures. I won't name names, but the strains of Blue Christmas never sounded better.
THANK YOU SO MUCH GOVOL! I'VE BEEN IN THERE ALREADY PUTTING IN MY OPINIONS!
I don't know how you do it Terry - you must spend hours and hours working for our benefit. I'm adding my appreciation also - thank you so much. Take a well earned break now and have a wonderful Christmas :-)
