Poor DpMicheal (dimitri)

I think his puter now has that nasty virus. I had an email from him and recognized it as the virus going around. (so did Jody) If I deleted it did it infect my puter? I got a message this morning from my puter that it was something about not being able to execute exe files....

Lisa, talk to Kim. She is the puter expert. Do you have anti virus program? Have you updated recently? Have you run a scan?

I also got this email. I deleted it with out opening it. Hopefully I am clear. Haven't noticed any problems.

I also got an email from him this morning. I didn't open it and I just updated my Norton anti-virus Monday. Hopefully I am in the clear too!

I got it too...deleted without opening. This thing is sneaky...I've had it at least 10 times,mostly from people who have no connection to DG whatsoever.

I also received an e-mail from him with the Bad trans virus.Luckily Norton took care of it. There's so many viruses out there now that anyone that doesn't have virus protection is taking a huge chance.

You won't get the virus unless you open the file that was sent. Even if you open the email it won't get on your computer. But if you do open the attachment and don't have an updated virus scanner it can and will infect your computer. If you didn't open the attachment I would not worry. Just be on the look out. Virus' can come from anyone. And sometimes the people who you get the mail from didn't even send it to you. The virus sends it all on their own. So if you are unsure of an email you received, email the person who sent it to you to ask if they really did send it.

I rec'd an email from him also. It came with two attachments. One was "news_doc.doc.scr" and the other was" text5.ext". The first one had a virus called PWS-gen.Hooker. I found it info about it on the Symantec site. Fortunately for me my Hotmail detecter (McAfee) found it and I didn't get it.
I lucked out this time folks. Know why? Last wk when my puter was messing up we had to pull out the Norton stuff...the firewall was keeping me from getting on websites. At this point in time I haven't re-installed it. (Am hoping to find a way to just install the Virus program and not install the firewall but haven't figgered it out yet.)

By the way, I emaild dp and let him know what is going on. And Lisa, you can go to the Symantec site and they will scan your computer for free to see if you have a virus...takes about 10 minutes or so. I'd check it out.

I am terrribly sorry for the trouble that I caused to you, I noe hope it is clear. I contacted it from another e-auction site, with many emails coming and going.

What I would like to point out is that it is not a safe practice to rely on an old mouse and just protect yourself by not opening a suspected file attachment. My mouse just went "doubleclick" when I didn't mean to, it is quite common if the mouse is a bit worn out.

Now, McAfee and many hours of waiting and sweeping the old files hopefully did the job.

I heard it snowed in Izmir (or shall I say Smyrna?) which is highly unusual. But you are further south and would not have gotten any of that weather front.

Hello everyone !!
Pebble, it did snow in Smyrna, and in Crete as well !!
It is the worst winter in the last 30 years !! Yet, my garden is not frozen yet, as it is only 36 meters above the sea level, and there seems to be a warmth related to places near the sea.
Horseshoe, I am sorry I can't show up very much this year, I have had three blessings: (1) I am bulding a house - hopefully finish in 1 - 2 months, (2) they changed the health system and adjustment to new bureaucracy requires two-to three-times more paperwork which exhausts me, (3) I am involved as an expert in some court cases about accidents and compensation - I hate the very minute I got involved, but I need to carry out the cases - all unpaid, for the sake of justice !! Yet, I promised to myself to scan 1-2 pics from the garden in the summer and upload them in DG every week. So far, only my old olive tree has shown up. Have a look at it in the database and tell me what you think of it.

You certainly sound very busy! I guess I just wasn't aware how much you are involved w/things. My goodness! Hope your cases are resolved soon. That should give you back some of your personal time.
