Winter Springs, FL(Zone 9b)

Gosh look at all those worms.
Ju, nice catch of the Gold finches, I didn't notice them in the weather forum. Love the morning glory vines.
Hi Debra, nice starfish cactus bloom, butterflies too.
Keith, great pics of your edibles, melons yum yum.
Gypsi, mild jalapenos work for me..LOL

My passionvine going crazy with all the rain, but I have Zebra Longwings flying all over the place, they are the friendliest butterfly, sometimes I think they're going to land on me.

Beautiful butterflies Sherri. Reece wants to know why we don't have them here.

Oxdrift, Canada

Grandma sent Reece end I on a nature walk to collect wild flowers and weeds for a fall fair entry Reece was working on. We took the canoe up the creek that I walk on in the winter and went to an abandoned field on the other side. Much to my surprise there was a whack of Jerusalem Artichoke growing wild back there. Very rare thing here

Pretty Keith, you are looking at frosts soon up there, aren't you? while I am crippled by this humid heat, chuckl. Everything is still going, peppers mostly, as I am not happy with the tomatoes. Cut the fennel back, but it may come back. I am wondering if I ought to chanj my focus on plants...I seem to be feeding everything but me, chuckl

Oxdrift, Canada

Careful with that F worď Kitt. Yes, mixed in with the intense heat we have been getting there are reminders with the odd cool morning that that is just around the corner. I don't know how long it has been since we got a decent rain. Most of my lawn is crisp. We were finally put in a restricted fire zone. Can't believe they have waited this long to do that. I would not have risked burning anything for a long time

First ripe red ones!

Good variety of insects there Ju. First one on the zinnia kind of looked to me like a hummingbird moth except I don't see the wings???

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Keith it is , wings were moving faster than my camera lens
The yellow above is an Alfalfa Sulpher The Buckeye near the window and of course the monarch
Here is Checkered Skipper ,

late start but a growing cantaloupe, Bees in Texas sage, Garden Spider, orb weaver Aurantia I think? Monarch way too close to that spider, and tiger swallow tail on John Fannick Phlox. I've got more good pics but have to fly out the door again. I like that hummingbird moth pic Ju. I've got those, but tell me are tomato worms the caterpillar?

Gypsi , Tomato Hornworms , and there are different types that look very similar
Two I do know ,,The caterpillars are a Large Sphinx Moth and a Luna Moth
Love the pics , Delightful ..

and Gypsi , Hummingbird Moths are actually a Snowberry Clearwing , Snowberry is their host plant here ,

I don't know what they are eating here then, but I have had them on my John Fannick Phlox. will try to chase a photo down later

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Gypsi Lonicera Honeysuckle or Dogbane where you are ? I would guess ,

Oxdrift, Canada

Loving the entomology lessons here guys and great pictures. Gypsi your cantaloupe looks very different from what I grow. Best growing year we have had for them in many years

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Well it feels like August because it is August. 107 today. Suppose to cool down and I am so ready.

Photo is my pink Mexican bird of paradise seeds that are germinating. And my make shift greenhouse. I got those hot pot covers years ago.

2 I got this this morning a large green female clouded sulpher

Thumbnail by juhur7 Thumbnail by juhur7
Oxdrift, Canada

Very nice Ju, had a hard time seeing the clouded sulphur against all the other lime green

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Keith those and Cabbage whites I have a difficult time getting a good focus with camera Think of the sulpher as a leaf growing out of the middle of the Rose of Sharon bloom ,
I'm only a fair wildlife photographer ,,,

Oxdrift, Canada

No worries, the challenge finding them adds to the interest. Speaking of cabbage whites, we sure have a lot of those but I don't photograph them

Fort Worth, TX

That is actually a remarkable photo Ju, I didn't see it til I looked for the leaf from the bloom.

I have had a monarch yesterday. I rarely get them before the migration so it was a treat and almost a treat for my local garden spider.

Tiger swallowtail on Phlox

Better tiger swallowtail, wonder if I should enter in a contest, I didn't see that one earlier

Soapwort in July

Took 2 years to get a stargazer bloom

Gypsi Thank you your Tiger Swallowtails look great ,I have only seen one or two here this year , pretty flowers ,,
Thing with that big green female is she really is green like that I see several male sulphers during the seasons yellow as they look in photo's

Keith lots of Cabbage Whites here also I try sometimes to take a pic of them for focus practice ,

Oxdrift, Canada

Nice pics of butterflies and flowers Gypsi. We had a whack if swallowtails real eàrly this year but nothing recently.

Fort Worth, TX

I had to move the spider today after I rescued a monarch. I was too late for the swallowtail. So Spidey is in the peach tree in the garden or somewhere proximate, there are some tall sunflowers on the south side of that fence

Thank you Keith and Ju for your comments.

Nothing prettier than a brand new butterfly, except maybe that precious grand-daughter in the patch of flowers. ☺♥

Gypsi, good move on the spider, I've rescued some from lizards, most get out of the webs on their own, but your spiders are big uns.

Nice tomatoes, and melon, and seed starts.

Ju and Gypsi....Wonderful pics of butterflies, summer in full swing still.
