Last year at my inlaws house we played a real fun game with gifts. Each person had to bring a wrapped gift(the limit was $20.) with no name on it. We piled all the gifts in the middle of the floor and then we counted up the # of people that were playing. We had 10 people. we wrote the #'s on small pieces of paper and put them in a hat. we each drew a # and then we started. #1 went first of course and that person had to choose a gift, opened it and showed it to everyone. then the person with the #2 would have the option of choosing the gift that #1 had or they could choose a unopened gift. If they chose to take #1's gift then #1 would have to choose another gift. Each person had to have a opened gift before moving on to the next # and so on...but the person holding the highest # was the lucky one! b/c by the time it was #10's turn there was only one un-opened gift left in the floor BUT that person could choose from any of the opened gifts that #'s 1-9 were holding!! It was sooo much fun to play! we bought $20. worth of lottery tickets as one of our gifts and those tickets went around and around the room several times! (dh's neice wound up with the tickets and after scratching off all of them she won $10. plus a ticket. later she traded them in and wound up winning $75.) We had so many other neat gifts too! The thing
is you have to buy something that you yourself would want. that way if you don't see anything that you like from all the other gifts you can still choose the one you bought!
Anyone else ever played this?? this is fun to play at office parties too, that way you don't have to buy for everyone in the office/family!
Let me know what you think!!
Do you play any games at Christmas?
It does sound like fun.
hee hee. *giggle* *giggle*
Not laughing at you MOLLYBEE or your games.
Something that I just thought of here on this end, struck me as funny.
OK CoCo I give up then...what was soo funny?? Do tell!!
We used to do this at our office Christmas party in my other life - it was fun....
We did this game every year at my old job. The biggest hit was always the lottery tickets, the coffee pot and coffee or the cookie jars filled with cookies. I traded 3 times one year just to get an angel that turned and played "Silent Night." I still have it.
We are going to play it 2 times this year, once at the inlaws house and once at my mother's house! yippee we are going to have soo much fun!
Last year dh got a Block Buster Gift card and I got a roll of 1.00 gold coins! I was shooting for the bottle of Jose Cuervo (Tequila) But lost it to the next #!! It's alot of fun, hope some of you try it.
It just hit me. Don't they call this the'Chinese Gift Exchange'? I think that is what some people call it around here anyway.
Hmmm don't really know what it is called? I don't think I have ever heard anyone call it by a certain name...
Is that what you were laughing at CoCo???
No,that's not what I was laughing at. It was just something that some of grown-ups used to play maaaaaaaaaany years ago. A person just had to be there. I thought of it when you made this post and it just struck a funny bone in me was all.
O I see! Thank goodness, that is all it was. I was getting worried there for a second.
