Thanks all, but this is the only site I am able to get, can't do any photos or e-mail - trying to figure out what to do next. Computer guy charged me $950 to replace the tower and still not working - can't even download an anti-virus program - thinking of (for the first time) stopping payment on check tomorrow and just getting a whole new computer and starting over - everything I had was lost, except you fine people!

Oh no Haighr! You could have bought a whole new system cheaper than that! Yikes! I would definitely stop payment on the check and call the computer guy tomorrow and tell him.

WB Haighr, hope you get it fixed. Computer problems can be a pain and an expensive pain at that. At least when mine tore up it was still under warranty :)

Cala - my hard drive was under warrant and the guy tore it apart to see if he could save anything and that voided the warranty - getting close to calling an attorney! He installed the Windows XP (knowing it didn't work very well) and is now removing it - glad I can at least get on with you guys from work!

he shouldn't have had to do anything to it to save your files, he should have known how to copy them off. I'd stop payment too.
