I planted a canary tree last March which had been propagated from a cutting. It was blooming at the time I planted it. It took a little time to start growing, but it’s large and healthy and continuously puts out new leaves. However, it simply won’t bloom. I mulch with oak leaves, so I would imagine my soil is slightly acidic, but I haven’t had it tested. What could I be doing wrong? I live in Tampa, Fl,
Canary tree won’t bloom
Hello there your tree would appreciate regular fertilizing from late winter to fall to improve flowering. As far as acidic soils are concerned, your plant should tolerate as low as 5.5 but I would avoid anything lower as a lower ph will reduce the available nutrition that your soil has to offer. Make sure you do not allow it to dry out or over water. Good luck
