I came by a Boston Fren a few days ago. It is in a hanging basket. When I water it the water runs right through. I used a moisture probe and it shows dry. With the probe I feel a large hard lump which I suspect is the root system of the entire plant. This lump is almost the size of the basket. Should I get a bigger basket? Line it with potting soil? I am new to ferns and can use some sage advice. I would not want to lose it as it is very nice now. Thanks for the help. I need a Boston Fern 101 class.
Boston fern
My neighbor says she uses a 5 gallon bucket, fills it half full of water and then places the fern it the bucket and leaves it over night. Does this once a week. Does that sound viable. I didn’t see her ferns.
To those who read my post but didn't have any comments, thanks anyway.
