We've been talking about this in other threads, but I figured there were folks who hadn't seen it yet, so I'm crossing into the General Discussion to spread the news :)
The new Garden Watchdog (or whatever we'll call it, but that's another story) is here. If you haven't checked out this feature, you need to - pronto! http://davesgarden.com/gwd/
I love how Dave made it possible to see who is related to whom (if a company owns or is owned by someone it will say so under their name.)
I also think it's neat how you can view a company, and want to see who else sells what they do, all you have to do is select a category and it will bring up other companies selling the same type of "stuff."
Or I can click on the company's home state, and see who else is located in that state. (Or country for that matter.)
Dave added so many wonderful features to this...things I would have NEVER thought of when I took him the idea of having a way to rate mail-order companies somehow.
Check it out and add a company that's not already in there, or find the companies you've ordered from, and give them a rating. Dave is working on a way to periodically let the companies know how they're doing, especially those who rate tops with us.
And this feature is available for ANY member of DG to use, so it's basically available to everyone everywhere.
Kudos to Dave for this great new feature!!!
The new feature is awesome!
Hey I didn't even know about this one, thanks.
Saw it, love it and thanks again for a wonderful job. I hope to be putting in my two cents worth soon :-)
It is awesome! I have a question.... What does the yellow flag mean? Also I added Seymour's Selected Seeds which is affiliated with the Jung seed, Totally Tomatoes tribe. Can you include it with them?

yellow flag = neutral
red x = negative
green star = postive
Yep, and I need to put a legend on the front page of the watchdog, per smiln32's suggestion during the beta test.
Thanks Tim! Dave are you sneeking all those links into the post? Neat!
Sue, I tagged Seymour's as part of Jung's, et al. Take a look and let me know if you see it...
Tim has the ratings exactly right - we figured a yellow flag is a "caution" to most folks. I think Dave's planning to put a "key" to the three ratings icons somewhere on the home page of the feature :)
Thanks Vols ...It's there. This will be a handy feature - Geez.... Pretty soon we won't have to venture out of Dave's for anything. It's all right here!
The legend is up there now. You'll find it linked from the watchdog's main page.
Also, regarding the hyperlinks being inserted into posts, I have finished a new feature today that has a series of "keywords". Some of those keywords are company names in the watchdog database. When a word appears in a post in the forums, it automatically becomes a link to the proper place.
Fun, eh?
Dave
Oh Super Kewl Dave! I changed the Jung's to Jung and that made a link too. What'll ya think of next!?
I just never cease to be amazed at what this young man can do and does! Dave, you are my hero!
Wow!!
This is great! I have been afraid to order from these on line sources but now that I can check them out here I plan to make up for lost time!
