I just couldn't let this pass by without bringing more attention to it. You very quietly slipped in that remark about bidding for the Post Office at the auction on another thread and I think it deserves more acclaim........lol!! So here's to you Sis!! It would be wonderful for you and for the people around you and I think a really exciting venture. Wishing you all the luck in the world and please keep us informed!!
Go get it Sis!!!
you go girl!
I saw that! Wasn't sure if you wanted to run the joint or clean up our mail problems. Either way, good luck, I hope you get it to do whatever you had in mind.
Good luck, I know you'll do a great job!
Thanks Aimee,I do have a mission before I leave this big ole world,to make it better for others'
Yes I will tiG and thanks for the vote of confidence' DH just shakes his head with a quizzical(sp) expression' Especially after I secretly ran him for councilman and he won, lol' We're on our second term, yes WE, as I handle matters while he's away, lol'
Today the Mayor...tommorrow the White House! Go SIS!
You gotta love small towns! good luck on you PO bidding - it's tough when they disappear. Makes everybody that much more isolated, and a lot less chatting gets done, nobody knows what's going on until it's over. I salute you!!!
Sis - where is your message about PO bidding? This site was moving slow yesterday so I didn't read all the threads.
Oh Sis - that's too bad. By the way reference running for mayor - you go girl! We need more women in public office and as my dd would say "kick some butt".
Sis I'm so sorry love - I can feel your disappointment!! Don't worry, maybe there is something else around the corner just waiting for someone like you :-)
Sorry Sis - hope you can save the PO some how. About women in politics, my dad has been saying that for years - we have too much to do to put up with drawn out battles over a line in the sand! Get it over and get on with life! Good luck in your endeavors - I personally am totally apolitical! But I do admire those who take it on.
Thanks Kathleen,I can rest assured that I made a effort, when very few today seem interested. My awakening was at a young age from a writing, penned by a rabbi or priest, cannot remember exactly. The story is true and says something to the effect:
"I didn't do anything when they came for the Catholics, then I didn't do anything when they came for the Jews and then no one helped when they came for me'
Sis, that was so profound!!! You amaze me sometimes - like I said, all those hidden talents!!
Hey Sis - right on! I heard that quote too - now it will drive me nuts until I remember where that quote came from. I haven't been involved in a cause for awhile. It makes me feel good when I get something accomplished. We had an intersection on the highway that was getting bad - several people had been killed there. All I wanted was some light so people could see the intersection. I started calling people - the Dept of Roads said they didn't have the money, etc. etc. So I got a group of mothers (some of us fairly vocal) and we did lots of calling. I called my state senator and called the local paper. I felt so good when within a month, there were lights at that intersection. I hope we saved a few lives. As a parent, I think it is our obligation to encourage our children to get involved. After all, isn't that why we live in a free speech nation?
That's right on NJ and nothing less for me will do either'
What you did was great NJ,proud of you for taking a stand''
We all can make a difference and the examples we set are vital to protect ourselves and others' Keep it up'''
I still "scare my husband" at times and rarely let an injustice go unnoticed' I have mellowed some and don't talk quite as fast as days gone by,lol' But if I do go on a "rant"just pull up a chair and let me go 'til I implode eventually, lol' It's something in the genes, mom(indian)dad(irish)we had some very thought provoking discussions growing up'
LOL - Sis! Not quite sure where I got my opinions and argumentativeness (is that a word?). My mother and father were fairly quiet. Maybe it was growing up in the late 60's early 70's. Family reunions can sometimes be a real "hoot". One of my relatives will make some idiotic prejudicial type of comment and my sisters and brothers immediately look at me to see if I will just let it ride or give a piece of my mind. I, too, have mellowed with age. But my dd definitely inherited some of this from me as I have heard her give people a piece of her mind at times.
Watch out for those Aquarians....lol!!
ROFLOL and yes, argumentativeness is a word,oh heck ya just made it one,I like it too, lol' What do I know? lol' I know whatcha mean,I too was the "Leader of the Laundremat",whoops, now I'm really dating myself, lol' Gave up on fam reunions, dangerous to my health, lol' Your DD is a very special lady NJ and know she will go far in life' Now giving those pieces of her mind, tell her to save some,or she'll give it all away, lol':D
