Need a name for a new feature

go_vols and I have been working for a couple weeks on a new feature for DG, and it is getting close to being ready to launch. We're wondering if anybody can help us with a nice short and descriptive (and perhaps witty and clever) name for this feature.

The feature is similar to the Plants Database, except instead of profiling plants, it profiles Gardening-related companies.

Members add companies to the database, and then everyone can give a "thumbs-up" or a "thumbs-down" for that company, along with some comments to explain the rating they gave.

We'll have a database of all the companies where you'll want to buy seeds/plants/tools/etc. You can then browse the companies and avoid the ones with a "bad rating". This rewards companies with good service, and helps newbies avoid those "bad companies" (you know who they are).

So, we need a name. The working name for this feature has been "Garden Watchdog". Does anyone have any other ideas?

If things continue to go by schedule, we may be ready to launch this thing for everyone to view next Monday!

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

I'm brain-dead for new ideas, but I'll vote: I like "Get the Dirt" and "Gardener's Report Card" (I can see a neat icon in my mind for that one!) Or even just "Report Card" or Green Card...Oh phoey, I'll let y'all do the brainstorming tonight, LOL!

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Michele, you'll be able to:
1. enter companies that you've dealt with that aren't on the initial list we roll this out with;
2. rate any company listed (or that you enter) that you've had experience with; and
3. add your comments about them.

ANY member of DG can do the same (you don't have to be subscribed to participate.)

It's gonna be cool, I promise!!!

Well Aimee, it's kind of a spin-off of the game they play on wheel of fortune, before and after? Only it's reversed to be after and before to read Safe $ - $ Sorry. Okay, yes, that was what was on the tv when I wrote this. LOL!

Garden spots--proz or con's?

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

After staring at Garden Watchdog for several days now (adding companies into the new feature), it hit me today. A watchdog is a faithful, trusted companion, yes?

So, how about Mail Order Gardener's Companion?
Or Gardener's Mail Order Companion?

(The first one was my idea, the second was Dave's)...

Anybody have any feelings one way or the other? Speak up, please!!!! The feature is "live" now, so we really need to settle on a name pronto. And at the rate we're going "Buster the Watchdog" might be it, LOL!

Allen Park, MI(Zone 6a)

I think the GARDEN WATCHDOG is an excellent name.

Paul

Circleville, OH(Zone 8b)

I like Garden Watchdog as well.

Gardener's Mail Order Companion says exactly what the feature is about! I had toyed with Gardener's Digest in my mind, but it just didn't fully describe the feature. I vote for Dave's suggestion, but I will enjoy using it under any name.

Ditto and love it,thanks for all the hard work you're doin'

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

I think we should call it petals or thorns and have a rating system of 1-5 petals or 1-5 thorns.

I like Smilin32's suggestion: Before You Buy. Says it all to a newbie, and it's short enough to fit in the Menu column.
