My shadow of the day 2) work to be done- they are fertilizer deficient as well.4) time to dig the paperwhites and refresh their bed- that vine on the pine is a trumpet vine, as big as my calves. Hummerfood. 5) another crinum due to bloom
Plant Propagation the Basics June 2017
Beautiful Robyn. So good to see you back on the site
Keith pretty , real nice photo's and flowers ,
I never thought about that Kitt, thanks for reminding me.. ( why not to hide under an overpass) and I love your trumpet vine on the tree, it is fantastic.
Ju, your day lilys are beauties. I was wondering if daises would re-bloom if cut back, after this big storm we are supposed to have, I'l snip them and see.
Kieth, as always your garden displays are picture perfect and I love the antlers used in those displays.
Oh my goodness this neighborhood has started so early on the fire crackers and bangs.. poor dogs.
Debra , I would imagine the daisy would re-bloom where you are with no problem ,
I saw a Hummingbird in the Monarda from you about dinner time this evening ,
Still lots of little plants here , Took some tansy out of the fridge tonight , about 5 stringy ones , as I was about 2 or 3 days late getting them ,
well live and learn , and attempt on ,,
My latifolia peas took being set out real well if the Beetles leave them and the morning glory alone I will get a nice fall show ,
Saw this today ,
not many butterflies here this season ,
That's a pretty specimen Ju. We don't have much variety in butterflies here but we have a lot of swallowtails this year. I am giving credit to a late flowering lilac that has bloomed for the first time this year. It is a kind of mishappened thing. Years ago I had bought a top grafted lilac that had a tight little ball of a top. It lived for a few years and died but then grew a new lilac from the root stock. It was a gangly looking thing for a lot of years and many times I was tempted to chop it out. It grew to quite a fair sized clump and quite tall and has produced several large flower clumps this year Every day the swallowtails spend a lot of time on it. If I get a chance I will shoot off a picture tomorrow.
Keith
Interesting Keith I did not realize you had Lilac that far north ,, The ones we have are developed from southern varieties ,
Swallowtails like the Fennel here the wild carrots , they feed on orange and blue flowers mostly , one year I had several here on a Bull Thistle blooming
Everything seems to slow to happen while the season is running past
I have to get some seeds for fennel and dill in the ground, for sure. Good to see you Robin, and Kitt, thank you for posting that about overpasses, I kind of thought they were a poor place to hide. likelihood of bridge being dropped on vehicles was my thought, but wind tunnel, yes.
Got a lot to do outdoors, trying to get a foster great pyrenees for a couple of weeks, since I am already off and at home during the heat, and with bronx. So many in shelters and there is a big kill off just before the 4th. Watered the garden this morning, other things still need done.
Pink water lily, wildflowers in the east bed, flame acanthus, Peacock orchid, the bed east of the porch with echinacea, a pink spirea, and some yarrow.
Looking great Gypsi, especially that waterlily
Keith Always love the sets you show , very pretty !
Gypsi ,, you have blooms , and pretty ones !
rain day here
Rained hard last night and laid everything out, but oh well. Love your blooms, Gypsy. Wish I could foster a dog. *sigh* I am babysitting the three to the north of me again, so happy to do that. Kieth, your displays are fantastic! I am glad you kept the lilac. I have two kinds and they are huge. Looking for a smaller darker variety now.
still no foster dog here. Rescues like long term fosters, I'm only good for 2 or 3 weeks when off in the summer. but in a pinch, I've fostered a couple for the 2 weeks it took the rescue to find a more permanent arrangement and got antibiotics going. Sometimes they need a pinch hitter, that is what I am.
I love lilacs but they will not live here, at least the one I brought home from New Mexico didn't last a year.
Such a rich colour!
