How many NERKELS do we have?

a Nerkel is someone who leaves the outdoor Christmas lights up year round. I used to be one when we did Christmas in New York because it was too cold to climb up on the roof of that 2 story house. Now that we celebrate it in the Sunshine state I take them down every year.

I take them down every year, but sometimes it's dangerously close to spring before I do. LOL! I'm also getting to feel more and more like I don't want the outside lights anymore. I think I'm getting old.

Nerkel Here! And what is more I leave some of them on all year to mark the Driveway at night and will light the big tree out front if company is coming after dark so they can find us. It gets dark in the country and almost impossible to find a place like ours if you don't know where it is. A 30 ft tall lighted tree on a night in July is pretty easy to spot though!

Ours are taken down the first nice day after Christmas.
Inside of the house,everything is taken down and put away the day after Christmas.

We decorate anytime between Dec 10th - 15th. We usually keep everything up until New Year's Day because we enjoy the cozy holiday feeling it brings while we welcome in the New Year.

Zany is my kind of person. If it doesn't need to be done don't do it. LOL

I always heard it was bad luck to leave up past new years day. I alway take it down but not because of bad luck.

I take my lights down off the house but leave the ones on the garage for guest reasons as well. So I just I am a 1/2 nerkel.In the fall I have orange light I put up,and red white, blue for the 4th

Our Christmas stuff goes up Thanksgiving weekend and comes down whenever. Our inside stuff has been known to be up in February, that is unusual though. Our outside stuff is up till spring most of the time. However we don't light it after New Years. Never do today what you can put off till tomorrow.

I want to know why the lights that were so pretty in December that people left sweet notes in the mailbox became ugly in July and prompted the same folks to leave not so friendly notes in the box...I don't leave the Santas and manger scenes up just the pretty colored lights. Who decided that we should only enjoy pretty colored lights at Christmas time? :P

Bought this house 1 1/2 years ago just because the lights were already up ,Does that make me one lol.
