For Christmas I'd like.......

.....to make cards from paper with flower seeds embedded into it, so that they can be planted in the garden. Does anyone know whether this can successfully be done without causing the seeds to germinate prematurely?

make a paste from cornstarch or flour.
boil 1 cup water. take 1/4 c. cornstarch or flour, dissolve in cold water. once water boil, add diluted powder. keep stirring till thick. cool.

get newspaper, cut off about 2" on the blank part, not where the prints are. as much or as long as u want. spread enough starch paste, don't over do, barely enough to allow ur seeds to stick on. set aside to dry. u're all set.

if u wish, u can space the seeds according to the way it is suppose to grow. plant the strips... since it is paper, it will naturally decompose. seed do germinated nicely, provided planted at the right time, and the right depth.

hope that help. i learned on my own how to do that since i had problems planting small seeds. place small seeds in saucer, pick each seed with twizzor, place on strips. work well with carrots, which lead me to do this.

starch we make in the Phil. from scratch to starch our clothes. so i thought to myself, if that work for clothes, i mean the paste of the starch, it should work with seeds. there u go... if it work for me it should for u ;). ma vie

To those who receive these cards, be sure you plant them. Household pests will eat them, as well as the starch holding them. This is one reason for buying wallpaper paste and not making it as in the old days, it did draw critters.
