Be safe Kitt.
Plant Propagation , The Basics Dec.2016
Katt I was thinking the same , stay safe ,and hopefully well ,
Hi Sharon ,, !!! , Not a bunch to say , Rainy here for now ,
Robin ,, How's the snow going up North ? Good cover ?
Keith How are doing there ?
I am still moving through winter sowing pic's of similar next time I get the Chance ..
We are heading into high 60s for the majority of the week then a cold front is moving in that will make our highs in the upper 40s. Vern and I are well. But Vern is just about a full time job. I had over 100 purple/red castor bean seeds. Mine this year was over 10 feet tall and about 6 feet wide. Absolutely beautiful. Just let me know. It does freeze but comes back the next year. About the 5th year and the trunk is as big as a tree.
We could use more cover here Ju. Pretty cold for the little bit of snow we have. Just got out enough to store some of the tools I had in the house for the reno into the garage and barn and get enough firewood in for the week. Also got up on the roof to clean the chimney. Otherwise doing jigsaw puzzles. Wendy picked up about a dozen very high quality puzzles at a second hand store for a dollar each. We will do them then pass them off to my mom to share with the people at the seniors home where she lives.
Keith
Well I got 2 potted azaleas in the ground. Mums are on porch where they can be covered. Let tomatoes freeze, brought delicate plants in. Surgery Friday. Hope to plant potted trees before. 6 weeks no dig after
Good luck with surgery Gypsi. That is never fun, but I guess if you have to this is the best time of year when you have to take it easy..
Nice to see that you can still putter away in the garden Ju. All I can do now is pamper my stuff in the basement and dream of spring. Will start to hit the seed catalogues heavy in January.
Wow Ju, I can't believe you've got all of that growing now! Amazing. We're under about 8" of white stuff.
I echo what Keith said, good luck with your surgery Gypsi and I hope you get your trees planted before then too.
Nice to hear from you Sharon, I hope you get some help taking care of Vern when you need some time off.
Kitt, please stay safe!
From me also Gypsi , hopes for wellness and quick recovery to you , My eye exam the 20th up and coming ,
UV has been low this time of year , good thing as I would be completely blind in one eye in sunshine ,
Nice and Lovely Debra .!!! Thank You Also and reciprocating should show soon
More daylily going out this morning , ,
This is the best time of year down here. No grass to mow, 59* @ 3 am even. No snow, no ice yet. Plants are going dormant, so come indoors replete with anoles and small frogs most of the time. Almost home- Tyler, Texas. Roses are the rage in Tyler...
The closet ceiling is replaced, daughter and SIL came up with kids on sunday, and got it done. (it has been downdrafting dust and rat turds for years), need to get plastic on back windows, firewood all cut, a dab of paint on the peak of the roof trim, pull up the solar cover on the greenhouse that has slipped, see 2 or 3 ponds, deliver foster dog to vet tomorrow, pick up my thyroid meds, clean the office and set the new computer in position, and I might finish by the time I start my fast thursday night. I am excited. This hand has been numb most of the time for 27 years.
and no the trees aren't planted. They are on the list for today, but plastic over windows and firewood cut come first. I did get 2 azaleas in the ground. It's always something.
You're such a busy girl Gypsi, I hope you learn to cut back activity to only 'have to do' after surgery. Thoughts and prayers for surgery success and a quick recovery.
Ju, the same goes for you in your upcoming eye surgery. All the best to both of you!
well if I don' t do it now it waits til February. Cutting corners. I wanted to paint that closet. Not. Just grateful the draft is stopped and shoving stuff back in it.
Excited for you Gypsi, I am waiting til Feb- because I suspect I wont be driving afterward. Not how trucking companies allow their employees to behave, chuckl. Home. 60* hit the shower first then snap pics...Shadow is upset at me cuz I didnt know he was out of food, chuckl.
Mexican mint marigold needs a new home next year, mustard volunteers up,time to chop several salvias back
2 African Blue basil we take cuttings and nurse til Spring for new plants as seedsddon't work on this one. I know this isnt ginger, but it was rescued and seems to be a great year for it. Salvia gregii peepin out of the pine needles. Crepe myrtle. It got too leggy so we cropped it last Spring- helps it fight mold and stuff to keep it healthy. However, I have read the PROPER way to prune is to take it to the ground- a few trunks a year...
Glad you are home safe Kitt and in the garden
Kitt, I agree with Keith. I've never seen so many blooms on Rosemary, not in these parts of the country.
That is great to see Kitt We don't see many blooms like that , When we do it is summer
Love the Marigold
No place like your own garden
I won't see mine for a few months , even if I am walking over it ,
Gypsi, so happy for you getting that hand fixed finally! Here's to a very successful surgery, and a fast and relatively pain free recovery!
Rusty
Texas sage, leucophyllum frutescans, no aroma, not really a sage. That rosemary was blooming as heavy as if it thought it were dying...wish mine bloomed...but mine usually dies back on 4th-5th yr and looking at mine, I wonder if it will do like Mexican heather and creosote bush look dead til it blooms. 45* has turned into a windy chillt 59*, feels great from indoors! Chuckl.
Only native plant I have that is still green is Pussy willow .. (salix ) Everything else is frozen solid , (including me )
I set a milk Jug of Red Volunteer Daylily seeds outside today , 12 degrees and sunny while I was doing that ,
A jug to the wildflower garden of Prairrie Dock is next ,
Gypsi More good hopes to the Hand and You .
I had a few small plants up before all this cold set in , Mustard still looked good today , If I can keep from freezing I can have garden chilled greens ,,
nice and can almost smell them, Kitt. Hope everyone here is safe and sound the rest of the year even thru surgeries and the Holidays. COLD HERE.
I didn't know Salix discolor was evergreen either, I learn something everyday here.
Salix discolor isnt evergreen. It IS native to northern climates. Not sure you have 'discolor' due to leaves on yours. Maybe a newer type?
A sign of hope to brighten your winter awhile.
The heat from the Patio cement and the House blocking some of the cold , is probably why I have a smaller one farther back in a more open space that still has a few green leaves , Willows grow to the North Pole nearly , You can find them rarely at the Artic tree line ,
Planting Poppies today , Annual but pretty
Hand good typing awful
Gypsi , Typing not attached ,and you don't have to feel it on your nerves
Took long to type 4 words left hand
Glad you're okay Gypsi, I wish you a speedy recovery!
Love your Poppy Ju.
Gypdy, when I sit to puter and type, my fingers turn to ice, my arm starts to fall asleep and I HAVE to get up and move to get feeling back. Especially now, top of hand across knuckles of right hend 'scream at me and hurt like I had been fist fighting' Glad to hear from you at all! Still snugged into the house, raining now. All good, popcorn time
