I just purchased a "Playful" Plumeria 2-3 weeks ago and all of a sudden there are 2 leaves that are starting to turn brown and I'm not sure what could be the cause. When I brought it home I re-potted it into a 14" container. This is what I'm using below:
Soil: Miracle Grow Cactus Palm and Citrus Potting Mix (Fertilizer Analysis 0.06 - 0.02 - 0.04)
Fertilizer: Miracle Gro Water Soluble Bloom Booster Flower Food (Fertilizer Analysis 15-30-15)
I water when the first 2" of the soil feels a little dry and use the fertilizer every 7-14 days per the instructions.
I have an 3 in 1 soil tester and tested the PH level which reads 7 almost 8. From what I understand Plumeria plants like more acidic soil between 6-6.7 so I added some Espoma Organic Soil Acidifier to the soil to bring it down.
To make sure there are no bugs I sprayed with Garden Safe Insecticidal Soap Insect Killer. I have provided some pics below and if anyone has any helpful advise I would appreciate it!
Help Needed on Plumeria Plant
It could be just to much water. Let the soil completely dry out, and then use Tepid water to water it completely. Tepid water is not hot, and not cold. Lukewarm. Tepid water also prevents plant shock.
Hello mimi510,
I would like to know if you have managed to solve your problem with this plumeria. I ask because I have a similar problem and can't find the solution.
Just a couple of days after transplanting my plumeria, the leaves started to turn a little brown. The first thing I assumed is that the problem was due to a lack of nutrients. In general, everyone agrees that a high phosphorus fertilizer should be used, so I started fertilizing with a 10-50-10 mix.
The truth is that at 6 weeks the plant, far from improving, worsened, to the point that some leaves have begun to fall. You may have had a fertilizer overdose. Or the problem was not in the nutrients.
Are there pests or diseases that can cause plumeria leaves to turn brown?
Thanks in advance. :)
