Gardening Books

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

I am looking for a good book to give to my mother (who is 80 and has been a gardner and learner all her life)for Christmas. She loves plants of all kinds, especially unique ones. She is a hummingbird and butterfly fan and lives in zone 8.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you,

Is that a publication? Google gave me some interesting sites, but not what you indicated. Do you have a URL?

Oh yes, I just went there. That looks good.
Thank you Zany,

Zany, that was the same magazine that came to my mind. A wonderful magazine it is to. I have kept every issue since I first subscribed to them about 3 or 4 years ago.

WEEDS..I'd like to add my two cents to Zany's idea..
I have recently discovered Birds and Blooms and I absolutely love it! It has the most beautiful pictures of birds and flowers and butterflies you could imagine.
Also they just started to insert cards..four at a time... to save with all the info on the back..so you might want to give your Mom a little 4x6 photo album to add your gift.
It is like getting a gift every two months..as the magazine has 6 issues a year.
Cheers,
Carol

For a book, I recommend Passalong Plants. It's the only gardening book I have read from cover to cover. That's because it's also funny and entertaining as well as informative. I like Garden Gate magazine a lot, too.

I gave 2 of these as gifts last year, both people just loved it, and so do I! Great magazine for those cold winter nights. It really is more like a book with very funny stories in it!!!!!
There is also a link there for the book Chicken Soup For The Gardeners Soul!!

We like Birds and Bloom, in our family when you are done with it, it goes to the next one...Shared...and never thrown away....They have a exchange on the web site...I have gotten seeds and Stamps from people there...It sure doesn't hold a candle to "Daves Garden" though....Wantabe...

Woodspirit1, tell me more about that Passalong book, it sounds interesting and different from my usual gardening books.
