Sunny & 65 today.....quite a change! The sun actually feels good, not scorching!
weather in the garden # 140!
46° this morning. cool front coming from the west.
Should be in the 70s for the next 3 days....after that......maybe rain from the hurricane.....
60° & sunny
Cloudy & 70 all day....hoping for rain, but nothing so far.....
sprinkles were predicted & none arrived. In the 60s.
Showers this morning...all rain is welcome!
Pretty steady light rain since last night. OK I don't want to work outside, but gotta love that we have the rain.
We had 2 3/4 inches of rain yesterday, almost a month's supply. Sunny today & 49°.
Sun is coming out again today. The rain was a blessing for sure. Good timing here as the tree guys are here to trim oaks and ash trees (the trimming really gives them some vigor) and to remove my last junk tree, a mulberry. The way is cleared for my garden dreams to come true, but not this year! Tree guys are charging twice as much as I paid for a day of work two years ago.
Rained most of yesterday, picked up at least an inch, maybe more! Awful about the cost of tree trimming.....need lots of trimming done here....
At least they did a good job. lots of sun coming into my newest beds now.
In the 50s today. All right with a sweatshirt. I will not start a new paid time here, so look for me as irisarian on National Garden site.
Oh! Will miss you! I do go on the national garden site sometimes, so I will look for you!
That's my primary site as well.....warmer today, highs of 65......
low 60s again today, more weeding done.
54° overcasst
Should hit 70 today....bear in my front yard a few minutes ago....no idea where he went....
42° just under 60 today. Is there a ranger or someone to whom you can report the bear?
Only 60 here for today.....no, just the town police, who mark the bear as seen....if I see him again, I'll call.....
54° 2 & a quarter inches of rain overnight & another quarter inch this afternoon. A great help but we are still about 8 inches short for the year.
You had more than we did....about an inch here.....NW CT had snow as did the Berkshires....UGH!
We had a little rain yesterday with high gusting winds today. Apparently Worcester was hit with flooding since the courthouse has to delay opening because of the flood.
More rain here during the night.....7 tenths of an inch....every little bit helps....calling for SLEET on Thurs. UGH!
46° as a high. Rain predicted for tomorrow & Fri. I hope so. Feels too cold for any garden work.
Snowing heavily here....just what we don't need!
white stuff! not here, just rain.
An inch here....gone today...thank God!
2 inches of rain overnight & a couple of showers this afternoon. Windy & in the 40s for temperature.
Weather looking better for the next week....not much rain in the forecast however.....but I'll take the 65 degree days!
Streams and ponds nearby are still very low. Rain yesterday and last night is supposed to stop but it is still coming in spurts. Each break in the rain is good for planting new conifers! It is supposed to be in the 60's next week, so that will be an ideal time for finishing with trees and planting bulbs. Probably in the dark in my case.
Raining today, hurrah! Yes, nice weather this coming week......need to do lots of stuff in the gardens.....
It was 74 today and beautiful. I did some cleaning up in the garden by cutting down most of the morning glory vines and cut back some perennials . The weather is so nice that my tomato and pepper plants are still blooming and producing.
We had another light rain overnight. Great news for the four new conifers that went into the ground. Fall nursery sales are really wonderful. Now I have picea orientalis 'Firefly', a picea koreana 'silberlocke,' a brand new large Gold drift Picea abies and a European silver fir, compacta (one that I tended for three years from a seedling). So, let it rain! The garden is starting to look like it means it.
My morning glory vine looked like Jack-in-the- Beanstalk...it was as thick as my thumb! Pulled it out, but have to cut away the rest of it......Sunny & 50 today.
can you sell them and say they grow magic beans?
Planted 4 new conifers myself Rosemary. One was a replacement that did not make it through the drought called picea abies red devil. Still need more consistent rain although the pond out back has been filling up.
Sounds great, Bill. I don't know p.a. Red Devil, so will look it up. Two of my new ones came from Stonegate gardens in Lincoln which has trees and shrubs 40% off, and buys specialty cultivars from Iseli. Mahoneys had a cham. 'spiralis' of pretty good size so that is a bright green contrasting one. The voluntary water ban this summer meant sacrificing a number of plants here, so the rhodi numbers are dwindling. Lets start some new threads, soon.
Yesterday the weather was grand....72 & sunny....today, cloudy & hopefully near 70.....showers predicted.....there's now some water in the brook where I walk, so I take that as a good sign!
