Plant Propagation , The Basics , December 2015

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Robin I have them offered on the plant trading thread , Kind of invasive and vigorous here , not everywhere though .
I have a few takers here and there ,
Robin , How is the seed Biz going , lots of wanters?

60 possible here today , trying to get the engine going ,

(Robin) Blissfield, MI(Zone 6a)

Not many wanters for Newbie seed yet Ju...
I would have taken some of your Coneflower but my yard is too small for vigorous growers, I can't pack as many things in with that kind of competition. They're beautiful though.

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Cleaning today outside all the seeds of Aster (wild) and Goldenrod ) Wild ,) are incredible , Here a fuzzy seed there a fuzzy seed , Lot of Chicory seeds also ,
Still almost 60 degrees here , suppose to break records Sat . and Sun, Sunday near 70 , unheard of ,,
3 more criteria , I would swear the planet is ending , bee, a beep , a Duh , That's all Folks ,, lol

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

So, where did everyone go? I thought I would have a whole bunch of posts to go thru and nothing. You didn't give up already did you? >smile<

Lake Stevens, WA(Zone 8a)

Just waiting for the bugs to be fixed, it's a bit annoying right now...

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

Nope, thought some brave soul would get me out of this, but nothing. JU, I guess it is up to you. jen

(Patti) Wichita, KS(Zone 6b)

"Annoying" is a bit of an understatement.

The good news, which has nothing to do with DG, is the fact that we are finally getting some rain. We were really needing it. I even heard thunder while ago, so it's perfect sleeping weather. I'm going to let the dog out for the last time and then the dog, the cats and I are going to pile in bed and watch TV. Have a great night everyone.

Fort Worth, TX

Busy busy weekend, have 5 year old here now, goodnight

The criteria here was 2 pounds to spay or neuter. Mynx hit that mark a full month before Tess did. Tess was the tiniest little thing. Great pictures of the fur buckets! ROTFL. As you have probably guessed, I am taking a screenshot and attaching it as a picture in order to get it to load. Even then, it's telling me that the load failed, yet it showing up when the post is actually delivered. This is a total pain in the patootie, but it seems to work. I don't envy the peeps trying to fix the code. Glad to hear the babies are getting in. We have rain here and both the male and female Cardinals were on my back porch eating sunflower seed. Two cat faces were pressed against the glass staring out. LOL

And that post worked without taking a screenshot. Who knew?

(Robin) Blissfield, MI(Zone 6a)

Geesh, hanging fur buckets...who wouldn't want a couple of them?

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Crazy isn't it , upgrades ,,

The oldest male that had a tragedy was plenty large enough at 6 weeks , weighed well over two pounds , Two largest in the pots are close . the calico is small yet I don't think so but she might be ,

Soo Robin ,, Want to do a trade ? Fur Buckets with Kitty plants ? lol neat eh ? a new wild Hybrid ,,lol

(Patti) Wichita, KS(Zone 6b)

I would take the multicolored hybrid in a heartbeat if I could.

They are all just adorable. Of course, since getting my two, I've discovered that I'm a sucker for kittens.

(Robin) Blissfield, MI(Zone 6a)

I rescued two from a farm the year before last, both were very scrawny and matted. Here's Miss Lily when we got her, after I thought she was photo ready and this is her today, helping me clean seeds.
The last one is Yin and Yanging with her brother.

Patti, in more ways than one good for the heart, lol, they've brought us so many hours of pleasure. They've also made it so much easier for us to miss our dogs of 13 - 16 years.

Yeah, propagate that!

(Patti) Wichita, KS(Zone 6b)

Here I go with another screenshot. I so wish they would get this straightened out.

I'm sorry you have to resort to screenshots, Patti. If it weren't for your ingenuity I wouldn't have been graced by that post. Thanks, your story was a warm and fuzzy too.

Fort Worth, TX

5 year old has been taken home, and I really need to go to the grocery store but I think tomorrow is time enough. Love the fur buckets. They look big enough to fix! the upgrades seem to have given us more advertising too. guess not as many paying members?

Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

Glitches, Gypsi, esp if the ads are supposedly turned off. Not sure what they are supposedly working on fixing now, tho

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

I see you guys both live in Wichita KS, well, now what was I looking at. I thought Patti and Robin first, the Gypsi, now I see only one of you does. Maybe this DG site does that to you. Makes me think I am cross eyed. All those kits are so cute. When we went to the Pet Rescue we ended up with 2 adults. And then I felt guilty about leaving the others. They had so many. I bet they had probably 5 cats for every dog. It is terrible. JU will get them all taken care of Gypsi. Don't worry about him. He didn't approve of someone dumping a pregnant one so he knows how that works. We all do. Even tho the Pet Rescue has the cats spayed and neutered, they still charge you for that. Think those adult cats were around $100 each. So, you aren't getting a bargain. I was just feeling bad because something happened to the cat I lost that I liked the best in all my life I think. I have never been real close to cats, but really loved that cat. I would let her lay on my bed at night but I can't stand them pushing up tight against me, so I finally had her trained to lay in one place. close but not too. I always had the electric blanket on and she loved that. But, my arms or legs would go to sleep when she was tight against them and I just couldn't sleep that way. Anyway, we have the two and at least one was a feral and really, truthfully, still is. After 4 years you would think she would sit on your lap. She loves Bob to pet her but will not let him pick her up. She has to be on the floor for her pets. She begs for treats, from the floor. Well, glad I found you guys. ttyl, jen

(Patti) Wichita, KS(Zone 6b)

Do the programmers even work on the weekends?

(Patti) Wichita, KS(Zone 6b)

Joeswife, Debra, lives roughly 12 miles south of me. I am in Wichita, she is not. I think everyone else's spread out across the country.

Gypsi, have you made sure your ads are turned off in preferences? I had been watching the top five but turned everything off and now I'm having no problems with ads.

Jnette, I was delighted to find myself sleeping past 5 o'clock this morning. I was sound asleep, sleeping on my back, when Mynx decided that she needed to sleep with her full body weight pushed against the Adam's apple area of my throat. She walked across my chest and plopped down - gasp! Gurgle! Gag!! Rude, that was.

Now we'll see if this post goes through. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to this.

(Patti) Wichita, KS(Zone 6b)

I wish I could remember what I just did to find you guys again. At least I was successful in making it back! LOL

After Mynx's attempt on my life night before last, I tried locking the cats out of the bedroom last night. Ha! They about drove me crazy "knocking on the door". I finally relented and let them in. Note to self: buy bumpers to place between the door and the door frame.

I keep trying to find an upside to all these changes. If nothing else, it's keeping my brain nimble, as I am well outside of my comfort zone.

I'm going to have a new experience today. Thanks to this stupid Graves disease, I have brittle bones now apparently. I have a bone density test scheduled later this morning. I understand they are no big deal. I'm just so thankful the roads are not slick. Now that would've made it a big deal. Love snow, hate ice. Parts of western Kansas got up to 8 inches of the white stuff yesterday. Wichita only got rained on.

While I'm out, I need to stop and buy a heavy glue. Until a couple days ago, Sissel rope was wrapped around the legs on the base of the cat tower. As a perfect scratching post for these two, I was grateful. They have scratched at the rope so much, about 4 feet of it has unraveled on one leg and the rope on the other three legs is starting to come loose. I am hoping gorilla glue will work.

Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

Gorilla glue should work, it tends to grow so maybe even a knot and screw to hold the sissal down. Bone density is a picture. Not invasive. Mine surprise them all the time. Theylook for osteoporosis, then shake their heads and carefully pronounce, osteoarthritis, chuckl. Good luck.

Thank you, Robin. "Warm and fuzzy", exactly the feeling all of my babies give to me. They are all a blessing.

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Mine are Bouncing and screaming at each other , getting in to what they should not . I have done and felt that way also !!!
Hi ya Kitt and Patti , and all Good Morning ,

Patti, safe driving to your bone density test. I have Hashimoto's, the opposite of Graves disease. Thyroids are a real PITA, I have probably Had hashimotos for years but one of my daughters lost a baby due to hypothyroid and sent ME to the doctor, saying "I know this came from somewhere mom". Ooops, I figured no problem, ahaha. yeah that is why all the bloodwork.

Will have to learn to turn off the ads I seem to get a lot of them.

I shelter shop - at this time of year I know where to get fully vetted kitties for an adoption fee of $10. Unfortunately for the kitties my house is too full, no room at the inn. my cats have feline herpes, one handles it well, she got it as a kitten in a shelter, but my 10 year old cat is explosively contagious. Until he goes, no new kitties. It does take nerves of steel for a cat to live around 5 large dogs too.

I wish you all good luck with managing your health issues and hope they make nary a dent in your gardening endeavors.

Thanks for sharing all your Furry Friends, the thread has gone to the dogs because the long, warm fall has prevented any type of propagating (here anyway).

I am especially intrigued by your second picture, first round bed friend Gypsi, what a cute mug; however, I just got to love them all. I'm a furbiefreak. (sp?...not a word?).

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Any one interested in some Chinese Privet seeds , I saw a bunch yesterday on mine
Little purple fruit pods ,
Spring or summer Azure Butterflies come to the little blooms , a very Fragrant plant ,

(Robin) Blissfield, MI(Zone 6a)

Thanks for the offer Ju, I'll have to pass, I've got too many shrubs and not enough real estate.
