Morning Glories 2015 #17

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Dana, those are so pretty.

Gautier, MS

Sorry to hear about all that flooding from the rain Jackie. Glad you were able to get your plants up out of the ground in gh too.

My daughter took me to visit NO Botanical Gardens yesterday. We had a great time, weather was great. Lots of plants still blooming! Here's a few pictures.

Looks like you had a great time!

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Helena, I envy you getting to see all those beautiful plants. Glad you
had a great time. What vine is # 3 and # 5? # 5 is a beauty

Gautier, MS

It was nice Jackie, it's been 10 years since I've been there. My first visit since Katrina, they also have a plant sale every spring, sometimes a fall sale too. I'd like to go this year but it's too early to tell with soccer games on Saturdays.

I think #3 plant is Thunbergia vine, I have to check for spelling, and # 5 is one of the tropical Clerodendrums.

They are all beautiful.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I agree! It has been in the 20's here and we just finished 4 days of freezing rain and bad gray wet weather. I am ready for spring.
love seeing the blooms from you all..

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Great pics Helena, What is # 5 with the pretty white blooms??

Gautier, MS

Jackie, I liked those white flowers too. They looked like from the pea family of some sorts.
The plants are maintained by volunteers " friends of city park". I didn't find a label to a lot of the plants even when I looked for some. If it wasn't so far to go there I thought of being a volunteer there too!

That clero vine is Clerodendrum Splendens I think. I have two of them going right now, wish they were cold hardy.
That white one reminds me of Hiyacynth bean "alba" but the leaves are different.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Helena, I know you would enjoy being a volunteer there,
Getting to work with all those lovely plants.

Debra, Thanks for the possible id on the Clerodendrum,

Gautier, MS

Thanks for the ID on the plant Debra. Here's another picture of a neat plant growing there that I have no idea what the name is. It was a huge plant.

GOLDEN CHALICE VINE, I HAD ONE AND GAVE IT TO MY FRIEND..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Helena, that is beautiful!

Debra, are they easy to grow?

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

well they grow and grow, but they don't bloom for a few years from a cutting. I am hoping my friend gets that one to bloom for me. ( he has a greenhouse and a greenthumb)

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Seems like I recall wanting to order one long ago from Logees but I backed out cause it
is a fall/winter bloomer and at that time, I only wanted summer blooming plants
Now I love the winter bloomers to brighten dreary winter days,
.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I'll have him do a cutting for us, Jackie. He is really good at doing that sorta thing.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Deb, if he can root us one, fine. If not, no problem.. :-)

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

u know so funny he popped in today to bri k me some chokes and peppers. I told him i lost my sticto, he said the one I gave him is blooming, he has already started another one for me, so I asked him to make a couple cuttings from the chalice vine, he said it was budding! That figgers I said.. LOL

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Debra, sounds like he does have a green thumb. I can't imagine!!.

Gautier, MS

Two or is it 3 very cold days here. Busy days but my inside mg are still doing very nicely.

Hope you got the seeds I sent you Debra. Post office said you should have received them this last Friday.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

no seeds yet, Helena. I will prolly get them tomorrow.. nice outside, I played out there and cleaned stuff up.
Thought I'd post a few pics of what I grew last winter in the basement...

I think we have never been able to enlarge our avatars, Jackie, I just love Helena's Avatar bloom!
also love the purples you posted earlier.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Debra,
I finally realized yesterday that it was an avatar. Helena didn;t have an avatar
before so it kind of threw me..
I would love to be able to see that bloom in all its glory so send us a
regular pic of it when you can Helena.,

Gautier, MS

Ok Jackie, I thought maybe it was the avatar. I tried and couldn't enlarge it either.
I don't now if the computer changed the color of the bloom but I think it's the one that I called purple pinkkfusion. Here it goes. Those pics were taken in August 2015.

Jackie, I agree! Those are beautiful!

Gautier, MS

Thanks Jackie and Linda. I do like those blooms!

Gautier, MS

Thankful for the rain we just had but look what I found blooming in my back yard!
Didn't think I was going to get any blooms from this vine this year. Three blooms from wild indica, salvia "Mr.Jules", and had to stop and enjoy seeing the geese crossing the street!
