when are you going to transplant outside?
I need to follow you this year, because next year I might be back to South America until March 20th ... so I might need to have a short season of tomatoes and plant later like you do.
So keep posting.

I won't plant out until end of March or early April. This has always worked well for me, especially since I don't grow beefsteak type tomatoes. I get tons of tomatoes, too.

Thanks for you concerns and compliments, guys.

Haven't had a voice since Friday morning. Feeling better, though.

I put a press on yesterday.

Contenders are all up. Transplanted all the beets. Reworked both compost bins. Raked leaves, edged and mowed. Collapsed, LOL!

I put a thick sheet of clear plastic on the soil after I sowed the beans. The Sun solarized the soil and the plastic sheeting kept the squirrels from digging up the bed. Then I covered the entire bed under a hoop covered with perforated plastic sheeting. It was pretty warm underneath. The green beans are standing up about 3 inches tall as of today.

The weather is wonky all over. I think we're through with winter, abd I'm moving on, calculated, with springtime.

I think I have my pill bug population under control, so I'm going to just toss out beet seeds (for the first time) close to the end of summer.

Stephanie, you say you don't plant Beefsteak type tomatoes but in the pictures you've posted your tomatoes look big.

They do get a nice size and they can get large depending on the growing conditions, but they are usually less than a pound each. I would say they are medium sized tomatoes.

Forgot to mention. I potted "up" my last seedlings yesterday. That brings my grand total of seedlings to 95. Like I *need* 95 seedlings!!
