Morning Glories 2015 #13

Gautier, MS

Thanks Linda. That's Blue Silk!

Pretty ip. purpurea Patti. I get that way too with my repeat blooms. Just glad I'm getting any blooms now.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Lovely blooms Helena. That last one is a beauty. Pretty purp too..

Lovely dark purp bloom and fantastic pic Patti.,

Thanks Jackie, My older vines are dying off even after I got them in bigger pots. Collected a few more seeds from them and reusing dirt.

Pretty blue bloom Jackie.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jackie, that is a beautiful shade of purple.

Helena, do your morning glories continue to bloom in the greenhouse?

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Linda and Helena.
Helena, the older vines quite often will die off sensing the change of seasons, their life cycle. completed. The ones I carry thru the winter, greenhoused, are usually the new ones I start late Aug or early Sept. I don't have any luck with my older mg vines in the winter ghouse

Gautier, MS

Yes Linda, my morning glories will bloom in the gh under growing lights and heat lamps on the cold night. I just put a new batch of seedlings under lights, it rained and we are supposed to get slightly cooler temps. Thought they would do better in there. I might even start getting my older seedlings in there too. Ughh, have to do quite a bit of cleaning in there too.

My Blue Silk this morning was actually lavender or is this lilac?
Fusishibori, my only other bloom.
Been happy to see my hummers go to the red passion blooms every day!

Helena, I hope you get all your seedlings in the greenhouse. We want to enjoy your blooms with you later on.
My Blue Silk turns colors on the 2nd day. Yours is more of a Lavender, very pretty as is your
speckled.. Beautiful Passion vine.
Mine (maypop) has not made any sds, no wonder with no rain for over 2 months. Not enough
moisture to make seed pods.I guess.

Mauve Splash with sd pods
Mutant, my preferred name for the Diluted Fuji no Murasaki.;

Very pretty blooms ladies.

Anyone heard from Debra?

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Not a word from Debra. I thought we would have heard by now. They should be on their way home or about to start home..

Thanks Jackie and Linda. I did get most of my mgs in the gh this morning, supposed to go down to 60 tomorrow morning. I saw some leaves with rust that I had to pick off. Wish I could send rain your way Jackie and Linda. My mgs need to dry off a bit. When I was almost done, found a wasp nest with 2 wasp on top of it inside one of my heat lamps. So when it gets dark I will spray them, that was it for me. I was stung by one of them years ago go and a very painful
experience.
Jackie, love your beautiful blooms. Mauve splash and Mutant will always be special and so will your gorgeous Ao......

This mornings blooms, one of my cactus sending a bloom shoot up slowly.

Thanks Helena. We did get a good rain but everything so dry, it didn;t do much good.
When I walk out thru the pasture, it crunches under my feet.
Love your purps and very.pretty silk.
DH needs to spray wasps too, tired of getting chased.

Göppingen, Germany(Zone 7b)

So finally the gray Nils are flowering (pic1) - still: I don't get the hype! They're rather small, I had some that didn't open right, and I still think it's some kind of mauve. I'm far more impressed with the other Freebie I got from Emma: A very dark, yet subtle speckled purpurea (pic 2) I actually love it when something looks rather usual to the casual eye, but offers something for those who care to look closely.

Slightly Off-Topic: my other beloved vines: Unfortunately, the two single flowers my Passiflora Incarnata kept in the extreme drought this year opened exactly the same day (pic 3). It's her third year and I finally dared to plant her out in the garden, close to the house. She should do well if the winter keeps to the Zone 7 limit. My Cobaea didn't flower that much this year, maybe it's not worth to carry them through the winter. Still, I love it when the first cold nights turn her leaves dark red (pic 4)

Totally offtopic: my first Bulb from seed flowered only 2 years after starting it! It's Tigridia Vanhouttei. The flower is tiny, but bears wonderful detail (pic5) I don't think they'll conquer mainstream gardening, but I love them just as I do love their huge colorful sisters Tigridia Pavonia.

A little nitpicking on a post further up: I think that yellowish Ipomoea up there is I. HederiFOLIA Lutea - I. Hederacea is a bluish one of sectio Pharbitis, so it's closely related to I. Nil

Thanks Jackie. I sprayed the wasps last night. Checked on my mgs this mg, they look happy to be in there with the morning sun and grow lights. I turned them off for awhile in the afternoon. Now will just have to keep an eye for the bugs.

Still just getting these blooms.

Hope all is well with Debra, missing her posts.

Garak, your blooms are pretty. Is there a common name for your last picture?

Helena, your morning are always beautiful, but what is your last bloom?

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Your mg's are beautiful Helena.
Love # 3 with multi colors. Pretty, delicate color on your Lite Pink
Rambler. Your Clitoria ternatea is to die for.
Glad you placed your glorys in
the g house. Got down to 50 here last nite.
DH needs to finish rebuilding the roof of the greenhouse b4 it turns much colder.

Linda, the Plantfiles list Tigridia Vanhouttei as Peacock Flower, but I guess that's just a "transplant" of the name of the bigger sister T. Pavonia.

Gautier, MS

Thanks Linda and Jackie. That last bloom Linda are yellow 4 o'clocks.
Jackie #3 is from Blue Silk Cross. It has made some neat blooms with the cool weather. I see a few seed pods too.

Love your blooms Jackie too. Those blue colors are so nice and delicate too. Happy to see lots of blooms. Hope your DH can rebuild the roof on your greenhouse.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I have never seen a yellow one! Very pretty.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Helena. DH is almost through rebuilding the roof of the g house. DGS
helped him this weekend. So bright in there with the new fiberglass.I thought was plexiglass,
Its completely clear. Now I have to find a clear see thru plastic to line the g house.inside
and out. What I;ve been using is gray although the packaging said clear.

Gautier, MS

Thanks Linda.

Good to hear that Jackie. I found big roles of heavy duty clear plastic a few years ago in Walmart.

Well, have to go to watch g-son play in the band at game this evening.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Helena, I used to get my clear g house plastic in Wal mart too. But the last few yrs, it has not been clear. I'm looking online now.
Neat that your gson is in the band. Which instrument is he playing??

Gautier, MS

Sorry to hear about your father Tony. Hugs for you too.

Jackie, my g-son plays the trumpet. It was a lot of fun watching him play. I'm really proud of him. I'm hoping he will continue into his first high school next year..

Beautiful blooms Jackie. Toma no Se is was supposed to be a dark vivid blue even into the tube, but it's still very pretty. Mine was also similar to yours.

oh my goodness I have missed you all so much. what gorgeous blooms and intersting patterns you all are having. Tony, ,my heart goes out to you and your family.
Linda, I got your Dmail while in Buffalo, but only was able to get on FB for a few minutes one night.. I will help out Thunder, will send it via paypal.

everything is either popping or winding down here, I went to work tired, needed to see all these beauties you have before I go to bed.
Patti, never ever be embarrassed to post a morning glory here, we love them all.
Back to work in the am, went in this am but they have me on four different tasks so didn't even get to sneak in from lunch. I have tons of orange noah here, and now the flying saucers are open as well as the species front and back. I didn't get to work on transplanting the vines in the tomato patch, we are loaded with green maters, seems like everything is in slow motion here.
Helena and Garak, I sure love your passies, wish mine had been productive, maybe next year.
cytf, you have a gorgeous display!
Helena and Jackie, I have two red and yellow splash tubers, with your names on them, and there are two more to go out front now from seeds. I don't know how they do in Texas, LK, but you are welcome to some tubers if you want any. I know u love the cannas.
If I were 20 years younger, I'd plant these Empress Tree seeds Joe picked up for me. Don't see the point in planting any trees at this time of my life, but I'll always have morning glories. gorgeous tree!
These were blooming on the patio the day we left.. hibiscus from Jackie's seeds..

Helena, I know you're proud of your gson. Wish ours had stayed in the band.
He didn;t like the instrument they wanted him to play, Might have been the tuba, he wanted to play the drums.
We're glad you're back Debra. Send a pic of your Flying Saucers when you can,
Next spring go ahead and plant a couple of your empress trees, Start em in pots. they grow 6 to 8 feet a yr, or more. Beautiful trees with lovely flowers. Wish I had planted my sds, I;m not'sure if they are hardy in your area, Easy enough to google.

Thank y'all for y'all's support!

(Patti) Wichita, KS(Zone 6b)

Thank you, Debra. And welcome home!

I went ahead and tore my MGs out. I didn't want a bunch of volunteers coming up again next year.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Welcome home Debra.
I had a bunch of Vanna' s in a hug bucket for years and they did very well. But they were so crowded, this year I had my son put them in the raised bed. They did horrible. I am hoping they will do better next year.

Gautier, MS

Beautiful blooms Debra, glad you are back. Hope to see more of your blooms too!

My repeat blooms this morning.
