April Blooms

rouxcrew - You flowers are stunning. I have never grown Iris before my neighbor gave us some....but I see they are lovely. And Amaryllis too! Gonna rethink planting some of these.

rjudd - Sooo cute!

My first iris bloomed a few weeks ago. Don't know the name or where it came from. Most labels lost. But very excited to have this tall bearded iris. Burgundy (?) color, even if picture doesn't show it well. Will most a few more pictures later.

Jo, there are light colored pickerelweeds, also check wild hyacinth, camassia scilloides

Morgan, what I love about the amaryllis is that you do nothing with it and it rewards you with those massive blooms. Susie gave me some of hers because where she lives, they have to be dug up each year and then replanted.
I am always delighted when they make their appearance

rouxcrew - the red amaryllis is gorgeous.....can they take full sun OR part shade??
Do they come back every year? Bring friends? Bloom how long???

Fort Worth, TX

my anaryllis blooms for a day or 2 a couple of times a year and has made babies.

(Joy) Hempstead, TX(Zone 8b)

The red is dinner plate size and has been open for three days now with more blooms coming out. I haven't noticed babies yet, but that could be because the undergrowth has taken over with all the rain. My big double whit has a youngster that is tiny but is putting up a bloom stalk.

I planted these two years ago and have abandoned them to their fate, which seems to be going their way, lol. Like Gypsi says, they do fine.mine have never bloomed that second time in a year, maybe I need to fertilize?

Don't be afraid to grab one off a clearance table, they can be tucked in anywhere and don't go roaming. They need sun to bloom well, but they can handle light shade or a little during part of the day. They hate wet feet and love good dirt.

I killed a few, but I think it was wet feet, not that they were difficult. I truly do forget about them as the summer comes on and other flowers start taking over the garden. But they for give me and keep on keeping on.

I will say that the best thing I ever did for my wild cottage garden was to snake soaker hoses through out it. They were/are the best investment I made.

I do the whole bed with about a bag of bone meal, a few handfuls of potash and epsom salts watered in, in spring, and spray with Miracle Gro's blooming formula 2 or 3 times in summer. No specific fertilization but everything does well.

Muscadines are looking to be heavy this year

Look! Baby grapes! Thanks Kitt for getting me to look.

A tiny Red and White Star amaryllis made its surprise appearance today.

Look through the arbor into part of the garden.
We got lucky today, all around us got hail and damaging tstorms and we got nothing. Phew

Nice rainbow, kittriana.

My bottlebrush that I mailordered from a nursery in Washington State were all supposed to be "Violacious", a bright pinky purple color. Three of the six are that creamy white! Well, they are all pretty. I am also showing a salvia that comes back each year, blooming ajuga & my first flower from Yesterday, Today, & Tomorrow.

Can anyone id the first & 4th pic? I think they are a plant that looks like petunia but not called petunia. I had a buch of flower packs from years back & decided to just sprinkle them all around my gardens cuz I wasn't going to get around to planting them properly! This is one of them... I also have a purple salvia, some happy begonias & my upside down orchid picture😛

Hmmm, the orchid is right side up when I click on the pic. Whatever...!

Are Begonias potted or planted inground?

Fantastic blooms!

The bottle brush are very cool, odd coming from Washington state. What place? I'll have to bring some back next time I go home.
Got me on the id. Orchid did appear upright even though it didn't when it's thumbnail size.
Duranta showing it's purple today.

The begonias are in ground in a shady somewhat moist spot under an arbor.
The place is called The Desert Northwest & they carry lots of plants that grow well in warmth, like Australia & TX!
I love your Duranta! When I moved to Houston, I saw them around the neighborhood & had to get one!
When my mystery plant blooms, I'll post a pic😊
In the meantime, a few in full bloom:
Aloe
Clematis Polish Spirit
Jasmine
Apache blackberries
Creamy, not Violetious bottlebrush!

Y, T, & Tomorrow
Here's my shady spot just out the back door-I love my Japanese Maple in the middle
The purple salvia (?)
Sheesh, I forget the names of all these treasures!
And Gazania!

how in the world do you keep that particularly gazania alive? I couldn't.

Desert NW sounds very familiar.

Were your begonias categorized as hardy or is it that you have a terrifically green thumb and know what to do with them?????

my white duranta is beginning to bloom but it is in a bad location so can't be appreciated. not moving it.
