Three years ago i bought a Japanese Kerria... I love the foliage and the vibrant yellow blooms. My problem is the plant looks like it's struggling, it looks stressed.... the plant looked promising in early spring but when the hot summer weather arrived most of the leaves fell, there were blooms but very little. I originally planted the Kerria in full sun, then moved it to partial shade and then to a shaded spot. I have robust perennials growing along side, I have good soil and good drainage here in Connecticut. I read that in the UK, Kerria is often spotted in abandoned gardens, growing well without any attention! Please share any knowledge you have on this shrub!
Japanese Kerria
I have Kerris in shade/part shade and it grows well all year with absolutely no care. My neighbor cut a piece of mine out and it is doing well also in full sun. If the posted picture is yours after three years, I am thinking the location change may do it good.
