I usually "think ahead" at times like this....so I picked up 6 of the $3 ones today.
They are really in good shape! thinking you probably will want at least 3. :o)
There were about 5 or 6 left on the $3 rack.
I went in to just water--they were desperate....6 hours straight--but it was a gorgeous day.
All summer days should be like today!
Now--There are at least 10 left on the table that are not marked down...yet.
I don't know if there will be anyone there from Bell Nursery on Sunday--or I could ask them
if they would mark all those down to $3 if I bought ALL of them. I really don't think too
many people even know what they are--and also, they look ratty out of bloom.
I will send Mary Lou (the regional higher-up that 'works' ourt garden) and ask if I may.
I will do my best to bargain--if anyone from Bell is there....
IF this is not possible--would you be willing to pay the full price ($6.98--I think) for all
the better ones? LMK--today, please...
AND--guess what else we got in--"Russian Sage"--just new plants--they are flying out of there.
$6.98 for a tall, 6"+ pot. The plants are about 16" tall. Someone bought 9 of them today--and then
someone else p/u 2 of them. Don't think they will be there on Sunday.

Thank you! Those astilbes look really nice. I'd love whatever is left that you can get for $3, but will pass on any that are still the full price. When you get the final count, let me know and I'll contact you via dmail for info to send you a check. Don't want you to have to front the money for more than the few days it will take the proverbial "check in the mail" to reach you :)

Now--I will need a truck to get all this down to Holly's!!
Maybe I can load some in sally's car--she could swing by???

Picked up all the rest of the Asttilbes--a total of 18 more. Plus the 7 I already had.
SOOO--A total of 25.
Six of the ones I got today were the previously marked down ones.
They are a bit more sparse than the rest--just less foliage.
The roots are fine--I am sure. The price is the same--$3 each+tax.

SS--wanted 3--she is driving here to get hers Saturday. Awesome!!!
She will also ferry Happy's 6 POTS OF Big Root geraniums to her. Thanks ss!
Aspenhill--wanted 10 (r more). Will add 4 not-so-perfect ones to yours. (14 total)
Catbird will take any left over. Will give you 3 OK ones and 2 of the less perfect ones.
The "less OK ones" have just less foliage--kind of, broken off...from being jammed
on the table. They will ALL grow nicely next year. The roots are all there.
IS THIS OK WITH EVERYONE?? Speak up NOW!
If it is OK--then this concludes my part of this "project'....DONE!!!
If anyone else pops in and wants some--they will need to D-mail one of these above
DG'ers and see if they will share any of theirs.
OR--they can check their HD to see if any more are available there.

Dang this new-fangled tendency for garden centers to sell native plants!!
I went to buy soil and mulch but decided to take a look around, of course. I couldn't help but buy an Amelanchier arborea, a tree-form Serviceberry that is exactly the kind I've wanted for years. Then I spotted an Osmunda claytoniana (Interrupted Fern) and a Sporobolus heterolepis (Prairie Dropseed).
Now I'll have to give some thought as to what species of Serviceberry I'll need to buy to cross-pollinate mine....
