marking my own thread to "WATCH"

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

Since when?

I've been out of pocket for a while and this one caught me with my pants down on two Plant Identification threads.

I scanned through the Dave's Garden threads here and didn't see mention of this.

At what point did this change? And is it permanent?

Odd but I came back here to mark this one to watch and I see I don't have to...

Why is it only on the Plant ID forum when that is one that we need to respond to and close when completed.

Only serves to confuse even further...

Nothing has changed. Unless you have set your preferences to NOT automatically watch threads, anytime you start a thread or post to someone else's thread, it goes on your watched list.

ID threads can be closed because one the ID is confirmed, there's not much else that needs to be said, and it allows those scanning the threads to focus on just the open/unsolved threads.

Other forums tend to have conversation threads that can go on for days, weeks, months or years. There's not a good reason to close most discussion forum threads but if someone wants/needs to have a specific thread locked to further replies, they can contact us and we can accommodate their request.

Thanks Terry ~ I appreciate the weekend answer. I have been on DG for quite a few years and never ran into that before. I have started a thread or two in the past so this one surprised me. Actually these two suprised me but when I came over here to see if there was any mention of this problem, I started this thread and came back to mark it to watch, it didn't need it. Haven't changed my preferences and only had trouble with two threads on the Plant Identification forum.

I'll just look over my own shoulder in the future. I'm sure if anyone else has the same problem, it will be mentioned. Thanks again.

I couldn't replicate this one. When I started a thread in the Plant ID forum, it went on my watched threads list automatically, as expected.

Thanks Terry. Not a problem. I will just make sure it works correctly in the future for my own use. Especially on the Plant ID forum.

I guess it may be my own computer glitch.
