Uploading Multiple Photos
Although I didn't get that message, I will second the comments made in this thread!
I got no message yet multiple photos failed to load. At my age I stay confused enough without outside interference. LoL

Did you add any text to the thread? That's the first thing that comes to mind as a potential problem.
Or if the text is identical to any other post you've made in the same thread.
Can you try again, making sure there is unique text in the text box and see if you encounter this problem? If you do, let us know.
I just entered another query to the Plant Identification thread. I typed my descriptive heading, added my question and further description of the plant in the body of the message. I chose two pictures to post. I previewed the message and all looked well, so I chose to post it. This message popped up and only the first photo I had attached was posted with my query. I had to go back and add the second photo in a reply to my initial post.
Someone else (Podcast, I think) mentioned the same thing happened when he/she posted a group of photos with a query a few days ago.
Yes, it was on that thread and I had posted those pictures in the first entry of my thread. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1366567/
Odd but when I found it was unwatched, I also noticed only the first photo had shown up so added the balance in a later post on the same thread with no problem.
I did not get the same message that HelloMissMary received however. It gave me no warning that the balance of the photos wouldn't appear but they had downloaded as though they would. The last entry gave me no problem with posting all the photos I submitted.
Here's someone else experiencing the same problem.

Okay, I was able to replicate the problem, trying it with no text, with text and simultaneously adding two pics (by selecting them both from the same file folder) and adding pictures one-at-a-time. I'll report it to the techs to take a look ASAP next week.
Thank you, Terry.

Apparently a similar problem with photo posting on this thread.
I just had the same problem! Got the same message, but only one of my pics posted to the original thread I started. When I clicked the "Go directly to your new thread" or whatever that thing says, it took me to the homepage instead.
Here's my thread. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1366981/
We've reported this to the techs. Thanks to those who let us know and as soon as we have a solution, we'll report back here.
I just got news from our tech that they've fixed the problem. I tested it in the test forum and successfully uploaded three images without incident. Please let us know if it doesn't work for you.
Thanks, Terry!
Thank you!
I'm glad somebody said something, because I don't ordinarily upload a lot of images, unless I happen to come across a stray unidentified plant myself.
And thank you from here also. It is appreciated...
This happened to me on two different threads just now: posted 5 photos, error message, only one photo appeared on the published post.

On another thread, I posted 2 photos, got an error message, and only one showed up.
Btw, I was posting from an iphone, if that helps.

I just tried to do 2 photos, got the error message and only one pic went thru.
We are doing an upgrade tonight (sorry for the lack of notice - I didn't realize it until we had already begun.)
Give us a little time to get everything tweaked.
Glad to know you guys always have our backs...or the back of our pictures, or something similar. The back half of our plants? Whatever....it's much appreciated.
Can you tell me which forum(s) you are experiencing this problem? We're tracking it down now.
Midatlantic for me.
My pics won't upload today, either...
as a single picture, or as multiple pics. I get the same error message as at the top of this thread...

The Photos forum (again).
Here's the message I got just now...
Database error: Invalid SQL: update t_content set body = 'My pics won't upload today, either... as a single picture, or as multiple pics. I get the same error message as at the top of this thread... on this thread: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1368713/ It shows the pics uploading, then they're done, but, when I go back to the thread, it's just an empty reply box... Here's the first message I got:

That's what I was getting, Daylilies Forum and Garden Design
Thanks - I've given them the details.
A pic I just posted showed up as it should. However, when I went back in to edit the post, I got the error message, and it wouldn't let me sent the repost.
The original post with the pic is ok...
At first I could not finalize additions to my "Insects" journal, then I could not switch between journals, then this morning I when I try to view an already uploaded photo in my journal I consistently get:
"Database error: Invalid SQL: select a.comment,date_format(a.date,"%b %e, %Y"), a.image, a.entry_type, b.name1, b.rid from j_entries a, j_main b where a.eid = and b.rid = a.rid
MySQL Error: 1064 (You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'and b.rid = a.rid' at line 1)
Session halted."
There have been other little glitches, for example, in my most recent d-mail to melody of issues there several "/"s inserted in my text as seen at my end after submission.
Once again the current owner/technical staff has instituted changes without beta testing and degraded the site for their customers. Is there any likelihood of :
1. providing site-wide notification of progress on problem resolution so we do not waste time in trial and error to determine progress, gaining further frustration, and
2. someone on technical staff going to school and learning how to modify the site on a separate server and migrating the "upgrade" AFTER the glitches have been worked out?
While DG admin is great, the management is surprisingly unprofessional."
There really needs to be a separate "Bug Reports" forum- and not of the insect variety ;-)
I noticed this thread today while trying to find where to post bug reports related to journal entries. I posted 3 comments yesterday, with no response, here:

It would be nice to have one place to report all software problems!

There is a place to report all software problems and "Bug Reports". Been here for awhile now, at least 5 years or so. It's called "Dave's Garden," and you finally found it...
Thank you!
Welcome, LOL! It's not always obvious, and the names are not always intuitive...
Hey, Mel,
How about renaming this thread to "Bug Reports - Computer Glitches"?
greenthumb99, to be honest, we did do a beta test on a staging site. There are some things that I know I didn't think to test (you just don't think of all the little things you do every day out of habit.)
But in fairness to the techs, we did test it, and the errors we encountered were not expected. I agree that some advance notice would have been nice and we're working on the communication channels to make sure we can throw up a site-wide announcement whenever we expect to encounter some downtime.
With that said, throughout our history, we have had times when we announced a pending change that went off without a hiccup, but we dealt for days and weeks with reports of perceived slowness or other problems that were more imaginary than real. And trying to convince a few concerned or agitated members that certain features had always worked a certain way, and we hadn't changed them during the fixes. It's a bit of a double-edged sword, if you will.
Considering that this site is in fact a business, it would behoove those whose economics are affected by its success to take more seriously the impact of technical problems created by poor handling of site modifications. Rather than dismiss the situation and see comments here as those of "a few concerned or agitated members", ownership of the problems and lack of communication with your customers should be high on your list. Two points:
1. Look at the contents of this forum over the past year and a half.
2. Note that PAID subscribers as of April 1, 2013 was 4504, and of July 28, 2014 was 3073, nearly a 33% DECLINE in business.
Paid subscriber-ship will likely decline further over the next 6 months in part due to the current degradation of site experience and lack of "customer relationship". If this business is to survive, which I hope it does, appropriate individuals need to face up to how operations are being conducted..
Thank you, greenthumb. Very well put.
Edited to see if the function is now working.
