Terry, a question has come up on the Texas forum, someone said that if we wanted to have a chat thread we should have it on the Back Porch forum, because that forum is visible to Dave's members only. Is that true?
Please can you clear this up?
Thank you.
Is Back Porch forum visible on Google?
Hello Terry, inquiring minds need to know, Please.
After this came up today, I did my own test.
I went to back porch and selected a thread/ topic with
unusual phraseology, and looked it up on a search
engine.
Nothing showed up.
I did the same for another forum and it DID
appear when I did a search..
Why cant more forums be private?
Thank you Becky, I did a test too and it did show up, but I am still waiting to hear from Terry
I just went to google and this is the title I found
Back Porch: Pugbears Fireside Chat for July Part 2 - Dave's Garden
davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1324993/
A thread in the Back Porch forum, titled Pugbears Fireside Chat for July Part 2.
Good Morning!
Look on the main page where all the forums are listed, the ones with an asterisk (*) are supposed to be open only to subscribers. At least that is what the legend says. I haven't tried a web search to see if they show up in a search engine.
Hope this helps.
TB
Yes, that is right, open only to subscribers, so only subscribers and read and post on them.
But what I wanted to know is whether what is posted there can be found on the web at large, and i think it can.

I think that if you are logged on, it can pick it up. If you take precaution to log off ea and every time, accessibility is greatly reduced.
If you are a subscribed member and are logged in, the private forums will show up for you. Even the DG results in Google searches are designed so that members and non-members receive different results. Some forums such as the Back Porch and Prayer Requests are completely invisible to people do not have access via their membership.
Good point.
So to test, we need to sign off, THEN test.
Sorry - I overlooked this message, but Melody (and BajaBlue) are correct. What you will find on Google is based on whether you are logged in (or not) here.
Thank you Terry for the explanation.
