I have Dave' Garden on my tool bar. I have always clicked on that and go directly to Dave's home page.
Now I have to log in every time, why is that necessary. It is very annoying to me to have to do that several times a day when I want to check a forum. It has annoyed me to the point that I'll have to decide what to do next. I have been a member for a long time.
logging on to Dave's garden
I'm suddenly also having to log on several times every day. Not happening with
other sites, just DG.
I'm so sorry....but I promise that we aren't doing anything to log you out of DG. It sounds like there's something in your settings that may need to be adjusted.
A good place to start - if you aren't in the habit of routinely doing this - is to clear your browser's history including the cookies, then log back in. If that doesn't resolve it, please let us know and be sure to tell us which browser and operating system you're using so we can try to provide you with some specific pointers.
I have Windows 8, AT&T DSL and use AOL. AOL uses Internet Explorer. Some times I use Google Chrome and others but not very often. I like AOL because of their email format.
I have Windows7 and use Firefox.
Have either/both of you tried clearing your cache/history and cookies, then re-logging in? If you don't stay logged in after doing that, then we can explore other issues, which may include your security settings.
(Speaking personally I've used Mozilla Firefox and now Pale Moon for over a decade, and I only have to log in if I deliberately log myself out. Also-rans for me are IE and Chrome, which I do use on occasion, but neither of them give me any grief when I do.)
Cache and history are cleared. This just started last week. Prior to that I remained
signed in at all times.
Cache and history were cleared here also on my computer. This only happens on Dave's and no other site I click on an icon and get instant response, no additional log in required on other sites. This has been going on for less than a week.
I run Ccleaner every day and it gets rid of history and cookies and a lot of other junk. I only have to log in to Dave's a single time after running the cleaner to restore the cookie. After that I would just click Dave's on the tool bar with no log in required.
I will ask the tech on tomorrow's call if we've changed anything but I haven't had to login and I haven't seen any other reports of this at the helpdesk (which is probably the best place to report problems :-)
There is a box on the "log in" section that
must be clicked on to keep you logged in.
Perhaps it has become unchecked, if, for
example you did an upgrade of your
browser, etc.
No, on the DG sign-in page.
When I do an upgrade on IE, or
a defrag, or cleanup, etc, it sometimes
unselects or unchecks things you
had set as preferences.
I don't think there's a "stayed logged in" box on our sign-in page. Can you take a screenshot of what you're seeing?
There is no "keep me logged in" box on my DG page. It's odd that this situation
just began when I've been a DG member since 2006 and never had it happen before.
June, has the login problem recurred since you cleared your cache and cookies and logged back in?
Yes. It's a constant.
How many times today have you had to login?
Here is some help (it's a few months old, but unless FF has come up with a new version since September, it may still hold the possible reason(s) for this behavior:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/972105
FF did do a recent update but I'll check this out when I have time tomorrow.
Thanks, Terry, for the info. I don't trust Google and usually suspect they are
the ones playing tricks on me so they flash pictures of my recent searches
at me! ;-)
Google and I are BFF's...have been for years :-) Somewhere, someone at Google has probably said, "can you believe all the botany searches this person is running every day?"
I still have the login problem when I click Dave's icon on my tool bar. There was one exception, on Tuesday May 20 I was able to go directly to Dave's Garden without logging in.
Rocco, are you running Windows 8, or IE8?
I can't speak to Windows 8 as an operating system - I'm only running Windows 7 myself. But generally speaking, there may be a problem between your version of AOL and Windows 8.
This link is to an older webpage with assistance from AOL, but some of the same trouble-shooting tips may give you some ideas of what should be updated and/or uninstalled/reinstalled:

I have Windows 8 and AOL uses IE8. I was able to click on the tool bar icon and go directly to Dave's Garden without logging in this morning but not this afternoon.
Does this help? Any chance it's an add-on or security setting?

Hi Terry. I'm having the same problem and have tried the suggestions as they apply to my new iPad air. I am using Google as my search engine. I have cleared all cookies and have logged in several times today, always having to enter my info. I would appreciate whatever help you can give me. Thanks, as always! Louise
Here's some possible help: https://discussions.apple.com/message/21784819#21784819
To be clear, this is not a DG issue, even though you may experience it here, and not some other sites you visit. Most likely it is something in your browser's privacy settings. We can try to trouble-shoot it with you, but it's a proverbial shot-in-the-dark: we are not experts on browsers (in general or specific) nor can we see your settings. All we can do is make some general suggestions (which are typically going to be found by us Googling a question about staying logged in, and includes whatever details about your browser or operating system that you provide.) Whatever links and suggestions we come up with are for you to take or leave.
