Morning Glories 2014 #04

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

If it is a cross vine send it my way please? I would love to have one! I will send payment if need be! I have a small one, but would love to have another.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Helena, maybe it is one of the Tecomas, very pretty whatever it is.

Gautier, MS

Linda will check on it and let you know by Dmail.

Jackie, I love the blooms from Tecoma, it's a good hummingbird plant.

Have 2 nice blooms, one Black King, the other Pink Flaked. Had another dark bloom maybe BK too but the bloom had damage and blooms are small reacting to the very cool mornings.

(edited for spelling which sometimes I'm not sure of and don't proof read.

Helena, How beautiful the color is on Black King. Nice pink flaked too.
We have the cool mornings too but finally staying around 50. DGS helped me'carry some plants out of the greenhouse today. Then he went to a friends and that family'is going to Vilonia or Mayflower and volunteer to help tornado victims tomorrow. Good lesson for him in
helping others. :-)

Gautier, MS

Thanks Jackie, I hope as the weather get's warmer the blooms will be larger.

Glad you had your DGS to help you out Jackie. It will be a good experience for him to do some volunteer work. They do like it better when they have their friends doing the same thing. They are still showing a lot of damage on tv from the Tornadoes in North MS.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Helena, Your blooms will get larger as the temps warm.
I didn't see the coverage from No Ms so didn't know how bad the damage was.
Just an incredible outbreak of tornadoes

Gautier, MS

You are right Jackie, this BK is a nicer bloom since it's a little warmer today.

Pretty blooms on all posted here the past couple of days. My red lonicera and my john clayton lonicera is blooming, but the wisteria and bignonia " Tangerine Beauty" did not..
it was a long hard winter. Hoping my Madame Galen trumpet vine wakes up soon.

Very pretty BK Helena and love the pink flaked.

Debra, I gave my Madame Galen trumpet vine to a friend yrs ago. Got tired of trying to
get DH to plant it for me, Now I have the common one that grows wild everywhere.
In a pot, it has escaped through the bottom holes and I don't know where it will turn up next. :-)

No MG"s yet but enjoying the Purple Iris and my Red Buckeye.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry about your boo boo Debra. Hope it is not a bad cut!

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Debra, Be sure and keep antibiotic crème on it.
Don't worry about sending me anything. I would like to
downsize as it is. So much to
do, I can't even sit around and just enjoy my old age, ;-(

Gautier, MS

I love your purple Iris and red buckeye Jackie, my buckeye hasn't bloomed this year and don't know if it will. I have a bunch of small ones planted around back yard.

These 2 blooms are from a branch that was climbing the fence, my g-daughters dog chewed a branch off when she was in playful mood. I put it in water when I saw that it had buds, and had to put another round of wire fence to try to protect the vines.

Hope your hand is healing Debra.

wow those are very pretty, Helena..
middle finger is fine, I super glued it.. just happens to be a main typing finger and the cut is on the top of the finger pad..

100 today yippee, everything is already heat stressed, saw the hummers among the native columbines I have going, so all the feeders are in place, I just need to be able to sit outside and watch them now.

I have a jack in the pulpit up, so cute! and my clematis is blooming ( jack mani?)
this is the first year since 2005 I have had a clematis other than sweet autumn to bloom and grow, so I am thrilled.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh my gosh Helena, unbelievable pretty color on those blooms!!!

I wish I had brought my Jack in the Pulpit with me when we moved here'yrs ago.

Wow Debra 100 so soon!

Love those blooms!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Helena that Keiru cross is really something else..
only getting up to 97 today..

Joe brought home 4 flats of yellow marigolds for the front triangle garden, set them around in it in their trays and forgot to water them, so when I got home there were 4 flats of almost dead marigolds. poor banana had lost all its leaves, and the hibiscus leaves are crispy even in the shade..
*sigh* why did I even bring stuff up from the basement, when down there everything is very very happy. including me.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

OH NO! Hope you can revive them!

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Helena, the Keiryu cross is a beauty.
I finally got another 18 mg's started and potted up the 1st 6 I started into their final pots.
Now I would love to start tons more because I didn't even make a dent in my stash of seeds. :-)

Dany's # 8 last summer.

Gautier, MS

Thanks ladies. Pretty bloom Jackie. I'm glad you got your mg's in their final pots. I feel the same way about not making a dent in way too many seeds left. I have some set side that I want to soak and sow still.

Here's 2 pictures from yesterday of Keiru as it was fading color. Two new blooms today and Fujishibori from another vine.

Beautiful colors, I really like the last one!

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Beautiful blooms Helena. So glad you have blooms for us, will be a long while before I do. :-(

Linda, I would have shared seeds of shibiori with you but I just didn't have any extras even though I'm sure I hand pollinated last yr. I'll try again this summer with my blue speckles.

Tag says Dany's Purple Striper

No problem Jackie, hope you get seed this year!
Love that purple, it looks like satin!

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Linda. If I can find more shibori sds to plant, will keep trying for seeds.

Gautier, MS

Does anyone recognize these leaves???? It's a vine, growing fast, found it growing in with my daughters rose bush. Kind of looks like it should be a fancy mg or wild grapes. Don't know how it got there.

I don't want to bore everyone with the same bloom, Keiru in middle of salvias.

Helena, will never get tired of your Keiryu, it's lovely.
Beautiful Salvias. One looks like Salvia Guaranatica, sp?.

I don't recognize your wild vine but maybe someone will

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

LK, I sent you some shibouri in the last mix of seeds I sent you, have you planted all of them?
I have tons of those.
Helena I love you blooms, especially the blues, and the salvias are awsome.
Those leaves look like merremia ( woodrose) mg, but I have no clue.. sure love the leaves, tho. Post in it plant ID files would you>?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I planted most of them, and so far nothing has come up. I am having a hard time with my MG seeds this year, nothing seems to sprout. I am going to get some different soil, and see what happens. I am using miracle grow potting soil.

Gautier, MS

Thank you Jackie and Debra. Jackie the purple salvia is a new hybrib named 'Amistad' from Argentina. They are not sure of it's parentage, possibly a guaranitica with a mexicana salvia. I guess you can say its a guaranitica sp.

Thanks Debra for the suggestion. I got an ID already (in 5 min.) Ampelopsis grandulosa, Porcelain berry vine, pepper vine. Can be invasive in my area as in other areas too. Too bad I already have to deal with several other invasive vines in my yard. I really like the leaves too, too bad its not merrimia or a mg.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye has the red white and blue swap open, come and check it out!

Beautiful blooms!

Happy Mothers day!

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Gorgeous booms Helena.

Gautier, MS

Thanks Linda and Jackie.

Todays blooms, a purple with stripes that was supposed to be pink porcelain blizzard, makes me wonder if I mixed the seeds up or it crossed. But Keiru is blooming it's heart out!
