239 Barred Warbler.

I have seen what appears to be a female blue- throated hummingbird. Twice. It is an accidental or vagrant here, very rare. I have not been able to get a photo or get it confirmed by anyone but myself, and I am not 100% confident on female/immature hummer IDs. It did look different enough for me to notice, but there is a possibility it is an odd marked immature black-chinned. To count or not to count?

I was just looking through images of black-chinned and blue-throats. The markings on the head & neck look like a female blue-throat, but I saw it from the same side both times so I can't confirm the markings were symmetrical. And it was back-lit both times so I can't confirm the breast was light gray/grey and not white.

Great news to hear of an osprey sighting in southern Victoria, Ken. Congratulations. Any sign of a nest or a mate?

Churchill, Victoria, Australia(Zone 10a)

No Margaret, Ii was just a solitary bird. We were going out of Portland Harbour on a trip to Lawrence Rocks and I spotted it on top of a tower at the end of the breakwater and the harbour mouth. The skipper of the boat took us back round into the harbour and the much calmer water to give us all a better look, and to give me the chance to photogarph it.
