MEMORY GARDEN BANNER ALERT...

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

Awhile back, somewhere, there was a loose discussion going on about the timeliness of important announcements (such as death notices) and possibly using the home page banner to alert the community to this type of breaking news.

Is this discussion still on the table?

I'm asking because I just stumbled upon Darius Van D'Rhys' Memory Garden notice, and she passed away two days ago...really, really sad I had to stumble upon the notice...

I just looked at my dmail correspondence from her and it is now marked with the blue flowers indicating that she has died. What a treasure trove of knowledge she was about oh so many things. Our earth would be sustainable if we all attempted to be so kind to our environment. Big loss to DG. Patti

I think Gymgirl raises a valid point. I only knew that Darius had passed because
I participate in a thread in which she was active and some members maintained
contact with a family member in case her health took a turn for the worse.

Perhaps Admin can come up with a solution.

Sadly, I don't think there's an easy, one-size-fits-all-situations solution to this. The closer we are to someone, the more likely we are to know immediately or hear it from mutual friends who were closer to them.

I have the Memory Garden as one of my watched forums. This way I'll know right away when something is added.

Same here.

Not just memory garden. It's happening on Parking lot too.

ViolaAnn, I'm not sure what you mean - what is happening on the Parking Lot forum?

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

I think the issue I was concerned about has corrected itself. I saw it here and thought the thread was about it, but it's not. It was a message repeated over and over where the banners go instead of a banner. Seems OK now.
