Too late "M" snowing here and -16

Verona, ON

Its -18 here but is warming up since I got up at 5 am. More snow forecasted for the week with the possibility of a doozy for my little local area on Fri. I will wait until I see it before I believe it. Often we get a dump of snow that Kingston and even Sharbot Lake which is north of us doesn't get. We seem to be our own Bermuda Triangle without the warm weather.

Steve dropped by this morning and helped me shovel the huge amount of snow and ice off of the top of the woodpile. I have an irrational fear of the tarps caving in on me while I am under them.We topped up my pile of wood in the carport too so if it does really storm I will be warm..Steve also moved an old recliner I had downstairs into my bedroom.That is where I usually watch TV and hate laying on the bed or perching on a dining room chair. Feels good!! You know I couldn't have given birth to a better son than Steve is to me and he sure was wonderful with Warren.

Fighting the urge to get a third dog. I would love another Rottie pup. My saner side continues to remind me that 225 lb of dog is quite enough for me.Especially when the 2 of them follow me absolutely everywhere I go.

Sending positive thoughts Susan that Bob's first day at work goes well.I bet he is very anxious to get back to work. Sure hope you hear back soon from the Telus Call Centre.

M what are you up to this week? Going to go swimming? Chuckled at the BD - I celebrate and have celebrated all of my pups' birthdays. Chinese food - oh that really makes my mouth water. That is the one thing I dislike about living in the boonies is the lack of excellent restaurants.

~~~ to everyone need to get the ashes out before I fall asleep in the sun in this newly located recliner.
Dianne
Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)
Hiya ^_^
Lorna did a 90 minutes workout today, she's doing so well ..
Dianne, unfortunately the swimming has gone by the wayside for me .. I always tell Lorna she can go and I can still help her in and out of the pool, but, for me, well, I tend to be 'high maintenance', hate to admit it, but, between hair and makeup I have been a slave to 'PRODUCT' for way too many years ..getting out of the pool, showering, and dressing and trying to blow dry and style my hair with several other women doing the same thing has really beat me.
I enjoy going with Lorna, filling out her workout log and helping her off the machines.
Re a new puppy .. d'ya think Duke would be accepting ?
I had a chance to 'rescue' a Westie last summer, a young Mom with 2 little ones, felt she had no time for the dog (she had come BEFORE the kids arrived) as it turned out, she couldn't give her up ..
Your Steve sounds like an awesome fella ^_^
Nice you have your recliner in your bedroom, I SO hear you re laying on the bed ..
I tend to watch the living room TV during the day, and the bedroom ones flick on at night .. cept when I was sick last year.
Gord did the ashes this morning, I took a CLOSE look at my sheers, going to have to be either washed or dry cleaned this summer .. supposedly I can wash'em.
UGGGGggggggggggggggg .. while we were at the gym I popped a piece of gum into my mouth .. started to chew it and thought "hmmmmmmmmm' something isn't quite right .. here, I have a CRACK in my right bottom molar :-(
Have an appt to see the dentist tomorrow at 4pm ..
Of course, NO dental coverage .. we took the pharmaceutical coverage instead, Gord and I both thought our teeth would be good !!! WRONG!!!!
I hope he can fix it somehow .. I just do NOT have it in me to have an extraction! I floss twice a day and brush 2-3 times .. religiously .. always have ..
Looks as though Lorna and I are about to play cards ..
be back in a bit
Inuk won best of Breed 5 years running..bet my sister Sharon is flying high
you might have to watch a short commercial first but here he is
Inuk is absolutely stunning. No wonder he was won 5 years running.
Oh M I so understand your dental woe. The radiation I had after my pit tumour surgery really did a number on my teeth. Like you I floss, brush and water pic my teeth multiple times a day yet have had 10 root canals in the last 3 years with ore to be done. I see so much of my dentist that if his wife wasn't his assistant people would be saying we were having an affair. My coverage through RTO covers 80% but only to a certain amount. My brother who has beautiful and healthy teeth has never taken care of his..... tain't fair!!!
Haven't met you Joanna but I am so glad you are joining us.
M Duke (65 lb GS rescue) and Diesel (160 lb Rottie) would be fine with a third. I just don't know if I am absolutely ready for a pup. Plus I worry about who would take care of them if something happened to me. I would love another a Rottie pup - Diesel is a dream dog.
Ashes out, wood in, loving this chair in the BR. The BR is quite large so I don't feel cramped plus it is right in front of a big south facing window so the light is excellent for reading.
It's snowing!!
Dianne
Edmonton, AB(Zone 3a)
M I remember when you got Lily, wow 7 years already.
Joanna B nice to see you back ..just in time for spring!
Good news Susan.
B What an amazing dog your sister has. I am guessing he was entry number 7 the very last one? Sorry I'm trying to look at it at work as I can't get on Daves at home any more.
Dianne - that is a lot of dog already- two that big and they follow you everywhere! Good company I bet.
I have VAnn's seeds now and will be starting them at the end of Feb. Get my seed starting stuff organized.
Bye for now
Alberta Ann
Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)
Wanted to pop in and wish everyone a HAPPY VALENTINES DAY ^_^
Of course, I wouldn't be a CANADIAN if I didn't mention the weather .. we got our 'winter allotment' yesterday in one fell swoop!
12cm. However, the temps have risen to around the -18C mark, so, for that we are grateful.
The dogs love fresh snow .. and, our yard full of 'yellow roses' is now again pristine LoL
Have been watching the Olympics .. right now it's 'Aerial ski falling', I think the channel will change as soon as I post this .. music is more my style, watching young people injure themselves is not.
Take care everyone
~M~
Victoria Harbour, ON
Happy Valentines Day as well everyone..
went to Tim Hortons for coffee and valentines day donuts..talk about calories but they sure taste yummy
-8 and not snowing, at least not snowing right now, Toronto is getting snow, here's hoping it skipped my region, had enough of it.
Andrew my plowman must be in 2nd
I got all my scraps out and made panels for 4 totes, doubt I have enough batting to finish them all but will do what I can today..nice using up what normally just sits in a ziplock bag.
Leaving for Buffalo tomorrow morning at 6am, shopping weekend is always fun especially when Joann Fabrics have almost everything 50% off. Just thinking of Carol, how she would have loved that Joann's ships to Canada now and she could have bought at a good price what she needed for the doggy beds..
Stay in if you've bad weather
enjoy your Valentines Day!!!
Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)
Travel safe to Buffalo Betty.
Lorna often mentions of her trips there .. she likes a restaurant I think it's called TGIF?
Says the Pot Stickers are yummy.
Have some pics to share .. just of the depth of the snow .. am wondering where the next 5cm is going to go !
Glad it's in your neighborhood and not mine 'M'..not nice of me right. Lol
Yes, TGIF has great food. We will look for somewhere we've not been to have supper Sturday night..I'm hankering for a steak.
Sun is no longer but still not snowing so I'm ok with that!
Verona, ON
Oh M that could be my place. Snowed most of the night and day with more forecasted for tomorrow. Plowguy hasn't been down the lane yet so am waiting to be free. More snow forecasted for tomorrow.
Know today is a rough day for you M but I hope things are better after your chemo. Man it can do weird things to us can't it?
Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Have ben a slug today ... just read and watched a DVD. Hope to head off to bed early and not do mu usual of staying awake till 2 - 4 am.
Stay safe and warm everyone. Safe travels tomorrow Betty.
D
Victoria Harbour, ON
Thanks Dianne, no storm forecasted so should be ok.
What movie did you watch?
I also am looking for an early night , bet I will be up about same time as you, the bewitching hour.
You will not know what to do with yourself come spring when you are out and about!
Lordy police were out today in full force, with clear roads and a bit of sunshine they were looking for speeders and speeders there were.
TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)
Hi - speaking of movies - re-watched The Green Mile last night..... great movie
I'm still here, ladies
Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)
Watched 'The Impossible' the other night ,, WOW .. a kleenex box worth fer sure.
Based on a true story of the tidal wave that hit Thailand .. Naomi Watts is one of the main characters, does a wonderful job ..
Feel. kinda 'ishy' today .. not exactly nauseous, but almost, and a dandy low grade headache .. BUT .. I can still function, and, since it's laundry day, I shall do so.
Dianne, do you think your chemo affected your teeth ? When I was in having my 'cracked molar' checked last week I mentioned it to my dentist .. he was rather, non commital on it.
I take 8 tabs of methotrexate every Friday .. yesterday I took 4 at noon, and 4 at 7pm .. really no difference in how it makes me feel.
I'll be ok later on today ..
Hope Betty misses any bad weather .. we are getting MORE snow and will for the rest of the day !
Take care
~M~
Verona, ON
M it was the radiation that did a number on my teeth. Dentist and Oncologist at PMH had a few consults, much good that does for the state of my teeth though. *sigh*. Doc my dentist just wanted to be sure about exactly where the radiation on my brain was. At least we found out I did have a brain.Seeing as I had to have a mouth piece moulded one can assume my teeth were targeted. All of the roots of my teeth are either dead or dying.
Oh Betty I was so tired (or so I thought) last night I was sure I would sleep for a few hours.Ha! Fell asleep some time after 2 am and was up at 4 am. No moonlight last night the sky was too cloudy again. Today started off beautiful but has gone down hill since lunch. It did warm up a tad which was absolutely delightful when I was out getting wood and playing with the dogs. Pups didn't want to come in so I know it was warmer. Lost both of the pups in snow drifts at 1 point... of course in different directions but fortunately all I have to do is yell Come and shake their treat bad. Stomach wins out every time!
Hope you feel better as the day goes on M.
V what are you up to this weekend? Have you ever gone to Toronto to Canada Blooms?
Susan are you freezing or are you snowbound or is it both?
Time for Diesel's and Duke's dinner or so they are telling me. They both have their bowls in their mouths and will just keep dropping the bowls until I feed them.
Stay safe and warm everyone.
Dianne
Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)
Hahahaha .. Piper is parading from the living room to the kitchen and licking his lips! Their chow time is between 4:15 and 4:30pm
Had thought perhaps they wouldn't be so hugry as they have had treats galore today .. SO glad they are like your Duke and Diesel, shake a treat bag, or anything that sounds remotely LIKE a treat bag, and their 2 wee bums are there tails a wagging !!
I tend to think your chemo was much stronger than what I am dealing with ..happily the nausea has passed (YAY)
My dentist is going to repair the tooth, he could have extracted it, or left it til root canal/crown time, but he feels it is fixable, fingers crossed on that !
Was at Canada Blooms once many years ago, almost had to be dragged out !!! LoL so beautiful ...
We got MORE snow .. went out and shoveled a bit , the dogs are always so afraid I'm going to hurt myself ! Last winter I would shovel and cry !! This year, well, I am good to go ^_^
Hope everyone sleeps well, I was a loser in the sleep lottery last night too!
Take care
~M~
Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)
Dianne,
It's cold in Ottawa today, but with brilliant sun. Hoping the warmer weather this week materializes.
The handbells played this morning; so I was at church by 8:25 only to find the parking lot already full of the keeners in my group. I ask them to be there for 8:30. We have to drag the bells upstairs and get them out; so we aim to be ready to play by 8:45 and we quit no later than 9:15 as some people ringing either direct or sing in the choir which starts warming up at 9:30.
Today was our nod to Black History Month with Siyahamba and we asked someone to play the djembe drum as well. If you'd like to hear what the piece sounds like, there's a sound clip on the publisher's site - http://www.hopepublishing.com/html/main.isx?sitesec=1.2.4.0&workid=512 (and for the musical ones in the group, a pdf of the first few pages). It went quite well and I was very happy with them.
Following church, there was a meeting of the Social Action committee and I've only been home about an hour. (It's now about 2:30 - not sure what the DG clock says).
This evening, an orchestra rehearsal and since I'm playing both violin and viola in a different group's concert next week, I should practice a bit as well.
Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)
Quick 'hello' .. wanted to wish everyone a 'HAPPY FAMILY DAY'!
~M~
Verona, ON
Right back at ya M! Feeling less punky today?
Sunny but bitterly cold morning. Weather Liars are yammering that another storm is on its way.
Been up since 4 am so a nap is on my radar.
Make sure you all do something nice for yourself today ladies.
Dianne
Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)
Thanks DIanne, and, yep, I am 'over the yuks' for this week .. have to make the most of the week before I dose myself again ..
We are 'supposed' to get 10-15cm of snow today .. hmmmmmmmmm .. am wondering from whence it shall appear ?
Heading to the gym with Lorna, she is meeting with a trainer today to 'refine' her exercise program.
ENjoy your day, and, your nap !!!
~M~
Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)
CARUMBA .. guess I should have checked the weather before spoke!
Looks like a TON of snow coming UP from the south !
Thnking I'll be shoveling today .............
~M~
Verona, ON
Started my day with 2 double chocolate cookies. Does that give a good enough hint about how I am feeling this morning?
Lots of snow coming here too. Had better get a path shoveled into the wood pile plus move extra wood into the carport. That will help the blahs.... exercise always does that for me.
Hope Lorna has a good workout.
D
Victoria Harbour, ON
Happy family day as well
Yikes, sure hope the storms skip my neck of the woods. Got so excited this a.m. To finally see little birdies at the feeder.
Was -18 earlier..am sure it's warming up seeing as the sun is at its bet.
Having brunch..was energetic earlier, now not so much
Someone kick me off the couch please
Edmonton, AB(Zone 3a)
Happy Valentines day all. Happy Family Day to Alberta albeit one day late.
We had some lovely weather on the weeked, much deserved here as we too have been freezing our .... off.
Dianne I too had radiation to my mouth and the back tip of my brain along with neck and shoulder. My teeth came out not too bad what does me in is the dried up saliva glands. Have to use liquid to wash down food. But my teeth are doing not too bad on that side so all is good. The wax gard was toast when I was done so it was doing it's job.
M good to hear you are having a better day.
B Early to bed is my current frame of mind too.
Susan good to see you here.
V Ann you are so talented, I don't know how you get all these things done. Your seeds are soaking and will plant as soon as they sprout.
Got my Begonias that I over wintered started as they are sprouting. My canna's are sitting under lights too to see how many survived. We will see soon enough.
I can't believe it's almost Spring again! Yahoo.
Spent the weekend in ICU with a very sick friend. My hubby's best bud had surgery and then went septic very nasty couple of days but now is "out of the woods" his wife needed to back to their home in BC and do a few things so I was the substitute wife. He is intubated so learned lots of sign language and passed the board back and forward. The equipment that is looking after him is mind blowing! Wow more plumbing than a plumbers truck.
My hubby gave me a Yard Chicken for Valentines and as soon as I can get a photo off my phone onto this computer I will show you all. It's amazing, He used garden tools to build a garden chicken with them and welded them together and then sent it to powder coating. I just don't seem able to get the work computer to recognize my phone! Darn
Bye for now
Alberta Ann
Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)
Ann .. your Yard CHicken sounds amazing !! Good for your hubby, kinda romantic ^_^
Ugggg re downloading pics from phones .. I swear, every computer, and phone, is never in sync !
Someoe on another thread had me download a program called 'dropbox' it 'automatically' grabs the pics from your phone or camera and loads them on your computer.
SPRING .. today, I believe it .. it's ZERO in our yard, I walked out to the garage in my Tshirt and trac pants .. the dogs are just goofy out there.
Have an apple crisp I made in Oct in the oven, I froze it, have never cooked one from frozen so am quite curious as to how it will turn out .. trying it at 400 x 45 minutes ..
Jeepers, sure hope your friend improves .. becoming septic is so majorly horrifying .. sometimes hard to treat ..
Good luck to him ..
Off to watch more of the Olympics ^_^
Take care
~M~
Verona, ON
Really looking forward to seeing your Yard Chicken Ann. Ingenious idea by your DH. Betty you have several yard art items don't you?
Ann I hear on the saliva glands. Mine don't work either. My mouth is always so dry and of course that adds to my dental woes. I have seen so much of my dentist over the last 3 years if his wife wasn't his assistant people would just assume we were having an affair.
VAnn I meant to mention this before... I so enjoyed your tutorial on Hostas on Coffee last month.Do you live in the Glebe area of Ottawa?
Just got back in from playing outside in the snow with the pups. Its been snowing since 4 am . Fortunately it is not the wet, heavy snow so is easy to shovel. Diesel and Duke loved playing snowplow. Lane is still not plowed so hope everyone who needed to get out for work were able to do so. Something is up with our snow plow guy this winter - he is just not as reliable as he has been in the past. Pups and I walked out to the mailboxes that are at the end of the lane. It is a mile out for me so I at least got 2 miles of walking in today. The only place to walk the dogs is the lane and it is boring and treacherous in parts. Snow is so deep the dogs just disappear if the venture off of the lane. Sure tired them out quickly and definitely beats having to do doggie pushups.
Susan is Bob still enjoying his new job? How is you knee these days?
Wood stove is smacking its lips again so I had best go feed it.
Stay safe and warm everyone.
Dianne
Victoria Harbour, ON
Waiting to see her yard art as well..yes, my entire yard has 'art' so I'm waiting patiently to see what her chicken looks like..much of mine is metal other than those I made for myself.
Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)
Good morning.
Dianne - I'm in an eastern suburb of Ottawa - Beacon Hill North. Used to be Gloucester before amalgamation, but it's still inside the greenbelt. Houses here were built in the late 60s and early 70s.
Victoria Harbour, ON
Morning all
sure hope all the rain and high winds they are calling for take a different path..ugggg,
TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)
no way I can keep up with you ladies
Bob's first week at work was fine - eventful, and Information Overload lol
yesterday he brought the company truck home, and detailed the heck out of it - it's much cleaner now!!
I'm going for a "turn up for an interview" type of interview today... turns out it's about 15 or so blocks from where Bob's working...
Love & Prayers for everyone!
Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)
Whoa .. have been put of the house since 7:45am .. Gord had an eye appt @ 8:30 .. finally got out of the clinic at 11am and went for lunch at Applebees.
He is a bit high on the pressure in his left eye .. has had drops for it for a couple of years, but, the opthamologist increased the strength a little.
Went for groceries, always amazes me, I stick to the list, and STILL come out with more that I bargained for (not that there's ANY bargaining going on) LoL
People in the store were a gab about the 30Cm of snow PREDICTED coming .. right now it is SO sunny, but (always that but) , the wind has picked up from the west significantly .. and, the EVENT is being called an Alberta Clipper .. (thank you Susan) ^_^
We'll just have to deal with it ..
TOTALLY lazy supper .. BOUGHT a chicken (cooked) a ceasar salad and some other salads .. this getting up and out before 8am is for the BIRDS !!!
Much luck with the interview Susan ..
Take care everyone
~M~
TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)
Marilyn - Bob says "you're welcome - we didn't want it, so we sent it your way" lol
No interview - I went to the company listed on the job posting - they said "it's the other location" so I got directions and went there. There, they said - go upstairs to see the boss. I did, he took my resume, said "thank you - we'll contact you if necessary"..........heck, I could have emailed it in, except for the fact that I know they speak a different language and didn't speak English until they were talking to me. Likely wouldn't fit in then......
Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)
'The sky is falling, the sky is falling'!
Never fails to amaze me, when a 'weather event' is about to happen, the radio station we listen to, brings in the fellow with the highest pitched voice .. just his first sentence spoken and you are 'ON ALERT"!
Now they have adjusted the snowfall warning to 35cm ..an ALBERTA CLIPPER will marry a SOUTHERN LOW' and spend their honeymoon dropping copious amounts of flakes in the area .
Was to have gone to a funeral tomorrow, but, that may not happen now .. feel bad for the family of the deceased (a school mates Mom) .. there are TEN girls in the family and it will be a large service at the Cathedral .. my BFF, Jo, and I were to go .. it's her birthday as well .. sheesh !!
Guess we'll just wait and see.
Otherwise the temps are better .. gets up to about -3C .. sometimes close to 0C, so, for that we're grateful.
Susan, kinda crummy about that 'interview'!
Best get a move on
Take care
~M~
Verona, ON
Don't ya just love the 'high alert' the news and weather folks put us on each and every time there could be a weather event. I've learned to not listen to the Weather Liars and just wait and see in what's happening in real time. I am concerned about the weather overnight though as I have to be in Kingston for an MRI for noon on Fri. Hopefully the black ice, fog, rain and yes even the snow forecasted will not be around. I wouldn't normally stew but you have to wait so long to get your appointment and I would hate to have to cancel at the last minute. Not fair to those others on the MRI wait list.
Susan it is too bad you had to go through such a run a round with the so called interview.So happy Bob is happy with his new job.
Pups are here with leashes in their mouths so I had better get a move on.
Stay safe and warm everyone
Dianne
Victoria Harbour, ON
Morning all,
From all accounts on breakfast television don't think we will het the high winds and rain, hope it misses you as well..
Dianne, know you are cautious and wouldn't take the road unless you know it's safe so will not worry about you being on the road.
Too funny, last night I called Andrew my plowman and said I was having Andrew withdrawal seeing as its 2 1/2 weeks since he had plowed, am sure he will think I'm nuts. Lol
