I thought you'd know, Pixie......the other one was a birthday present from my nephew...came from WFF, but had no ID tag.....

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Thanks, Pixie! I love it....this is the second time it's bloomed this winter.....

Thanks, Marilyn and Celeste! Love that one.

Debi, that is such a neat pic, and I cannot believe she has gotten that big! Where does time go?! Lovely shot!

She'll be in school before you know it!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Actually, she'll be walking down the aisle before you know it! LOL

Wait a minute!!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Don't blink!!! Heehee

I've been having my cuddle time with the 5monthold from Texas this week and her VERY busy sister who will be three next month. I'm exhausted!!! None of my other grandies push the limits like the almost three yr old. I had to put away things I have never ut away with the others. when she was just with me it was better. There were some enjoyable times, but some stressful ones as well. Whew!!! It makes me sad in a way.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Perhaps the 3-yr-old is a teensy bit jealous of the attention the baby is getting??? Maybe a little bit of "Look at ME"??? Hee hee.....i know that trick! 😃

South Hamilton, MA

Perhaps she is afraid the baby will get your attention, so she gets it first.

Thomaston, CT

That's probably the problem....when the baby gets older, things will calm down. My granddaughters are 18 months apart, & they're best friends.....

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Actually she has always been BUSY. Hehehe. Hopefuly they will be good friends as they get older. She is going to need strong teachers.

For anyone planning to come to Bill's RU in June, I have made a plant swap thread where you can plan swaps.

Been out of the loop too long. Love seeing Robindog's Hippeastrum blooming this late. My little experiment to leave all ours out this fall under a tarp to keep them dark and dry was not successful. But I didn't kill them, however they are all confused and now just starting to come to life. Maybe I will have blooms in May or June! I always have hair-brained ideas.

Happily I got back to work for the whole day in the garden today after my trip to Okla to celebrate my Mom's 99th. She is still going great guns. I was exhausted when I got back to Boston from all the festivities in her honor. Of course having to make an emergency landing when the AA plane I was on from Tulsa to Dallas hit a flock of birds. A tad unnerving and of course I missed my connection.

I am posting a shot of my Mom at lunch at Philbrook which is a local Tulsa Art museum in an old home with a formal Italian garden as well as informal acreage that contains sculpture and a lovely collection of shrubs and trees. The Hellebores where out everywhere, but not much else as they have had a very cold winter too. It was a favorite haunt for me as a child and still is! This was taken the day before she turned 99. Thanks all, just happy to be back in our garden working away. Transplanted a mess of shrubs that seemed crowded as well as some divisions of others yesterday as we had rain forcast for last night. Pruned more Acer and of course raked, the endless raking. Today more of the same as well as putting down more mist net to try to deter the group of squirrels that are digging up our precious bulbs. They seem to be going after only the shallow planted little guys, so far.............grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. No luck with the Havaheart trap yet, except to catch crows.

List included
Acer palmatum Shu Shidare (moved)
Acer shirasawanum Johin (moved)
Spiraea thunbergi Mt. Fuji (moved)
Hydrangea paniculata Pink Diamond (moved)
Viburnum plicatum f. tom. Weeping Magic (moved)
Viburnum x burkwoodii Conoy (moved)
2 Leucothoe fontanesiana (moved)
Spiraea japonica Shirobana (division)
Weigela White Knight (division)
3 Buddleja alternifolia (division)

Sad news for all of DG and the earth as a truly caring and remarkable women, Darius, died yesterday. Patti

The Memory Garden page for Darius is here:

I was looking up on google a lily that I recently ordered and came up with this and was surprised as I thought our DG post were not public, but only to DG paying members??????? I am not happy as posting family news and shots in my mind is for a limited audience and not for the whole internet world to see and read.

What!!??!!?? They've got some splainin' to do about this!!

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

I'm not sure that DG has any control over what the search trawling programs can do. Just Googling some gardening topic brings up all sorts of hits including pictures. Can't say I've seen individuals posts, though.

Sorry to hear about Darius passing. Her posts were always interesting and entertaining as well.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Oh, my, patti!! If everyone can see then why are there paid subscriptions?

Headed to Annapolis tomorrow to babysit some of the grandies. Woot, woot!!

Patti, there have always been - and there remain - a few forums that are invisible to non-subscribing members and visitors. Our other forums have always been somewhat visible to members, although some of them do not allow anyone except paid subscribers to post.

So how do we know which ones to not post on? Please post list of closed ones please? Patti

I have assumed that they can be read, but can't post unless pd member. Always very careful.

Here's a vocabulary trivia question: what is the meaning of "plagiotropism"? I'll say in the next thread.

Sat we took a trip to see the confer test garden at Wellesley. Naturally I end up standing outside in the rain memorizing the names of the must-haves while dog and DH get into the warm car.

So this is what I bought from Conifer Kingdom when I got home: Picea glauca 'Daisy's White' Pinus parviflora 'Tanima-no-yuki' and a few dwarves I did not see there. I am still eyeing Juniperus 'compressa', sciadopitys verticillata 'Picola' and Pinus densiformus 'Jane Kluis.' Some of my earlier selections for spring were represented in the garden, too. Wissel's Saguaro Lawson's, for example, looked like a two foot tall cactus

It's amazing how much garden space you can find when there's a will. Where better to put an additional dwarf conifer display than by the wall and stone steps as you enter the house? Maybe a very dwarf upright JM there too since Crimson Queen is the domant tree on the other side.

Maybe we need a new thread? Anyone have a good coffee picture?

OK here ought to be the new thread---
