Use of ALT key commands

Maybe I missed a notification somewhere...

The ALT key commands allow use of symbols that don't exist on my keyboard. Is this still OK to do on DG?

I have commonly used the symbol for trademark (tm), which is ALT 0153. Now, when I use that, it shows up as some gibberish mixture of symbols.

Here's an example: Viburnum x Wishful Thinking�

It hasn't worked properly recently...

Where the trademark symbol should be, there is an a with a carat (sp?), a box, and a cent symbol. What's up with that?

Looks like you've got the same issue I do, Resin.

We are working on the recognized character set (I think that's the correct tech term for it) and should have it fixed shortly. In the meantime, I can only suggest avoiding any off-the-beaten-path characters, or you may wind up with some strange substitutes in their place.

The ones I use most, I printed the codes out on a sheet of paper and stuck it on the wall beside my computer. I refer to it frequently.
