Search troubles

Albany, ME(Zone 4b)

This summer I had an ongoing conversation about monarchs in Maine. Someone suggested that I post my question in Midwest forums. If I go to My Info and look for my posts, I find one in Ohio and one in Midwest, but I can't find the original one. If I go to Advanced Search after searching for Monarchs in the forum search and enter "Monarchs" for "search forums for" and "las14" for "find posts by user," I get no hits. How can that be?

So, two puzzles.

1) Where's my first post about monarchs? I'm pretty sure it was in the Northeast forum.

2) If I can see two posts by me in "My Info/View the posts I have made," why don't they show up when I enter "monarchs" and "las14" in Advanced search?

TIA

Use Google with the keywords: your ID, Dave's Garden, and any words you remember. You will probably have better luck going this way. I know I have.

Today, I was researching Spiraeas. At the bottom of a page of Spiraeas, there's words "check Advanced Search". When I click on the "Advanced Search", it brings me to a page entitled "Advanced Search".

Does this page work? I am not seeing how to use it. I'm not very computer savvy.

Edited to add:
I wanted to look for Spiraeas that are dwarf, with red fall color and pink or white bloom.
I wanted DG to pull up the Spiraeas with these characteristics.
Can anyone direct me a place I could do that?

birder, DG's search capabilities are primitive & quixotic at best. I agree with hcmcdole that a Google search is the quickest way to delve the data on this site. Just a quirk.

Yes, I suppose you are right. It doesn't "filter" things out very well.
Thank you for replying.

FlowAjen and Debi_k, I heard a story on Maine PR about the total absence of monarchs in Maine this year. They stressed the mystery of where they are. Why don't they talk to folks in Ohio and Illinois to see if they showed up there?? FlowAjen, I assume a monarch "cat" is a monarch caterpillar? Maybe monarchs were really late int the northeast like almost all the veggies and flowers in Maine????

I haven't tried to recreate your search, LAS, but Melody and I recently spotted some problems with the search not returning the more recent results. The techs are working on it as we speak.

Using Google with keywords: las14, Dave's garden, and monarch I got 2,250 hits in a quarter of a second. I'm sure the top 3 or so is probably what LAS was searching for (the top one is this thread itself).

I think I found it via DG search very easily. But I could be wrong. I posted it two up on this thread. Patti
