That's how it's always been. In order to reply you have to send the person a Dmail. The questions were answered in groups on Saturdays but I haven't seen that (or looked for it) recently.

We do still accumulate and answer them occasionally, but yes - that is a place to ask a question, and have it answered by our admins and writers.

can anyone d-mail them (like me for instance) or just admin and certain others? i've always wondered about that.

You can do that if you'd like. We also actively work to relocate any questions that need to be elsewhere, such as plant IDs. So on those, you might wait until we get them moved, and then you can respond to them in the PID forum.
