Some perspective

Albany, ME(Zone 4b)

Multiple browsers and more variety in hardware have made web design a truly daunting task. Lots of problems have been reported and DG seems to work diligently to address them, but some folks have complained that DG is "the only place" where they have problems. That may be true in their case, but not across the board. I don't happen to have any problems with DG, but for me Google Maps will not run acceptably on an IE browser. I have to use Chrome and I don't want to. This began about 6 months ago and continues. Who knows what tweaking my system or their systems need to fix it. My point is just that the whole enterprise has gotten so incredibly complex that even the big guys don't have perfect solutions. Thanks, DG, for hanging in there!!!

I've had some video not playing in IE so use Firefox for those sites. No problem with Google maps in IE though.

So true, LAS.

I just noticed that when you hover over the user names now it shows when a member joined and if they are a subscriber or not. I really like that new feature.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

Actually that's not a new feature, Cville_Gardener…That's showed for me ever since I started popping in, before subscribing, a couple years ago.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

This is the first time I've seen it since I joined in 2010.

Albany, ME(Zone 4b)

Huh, Cville_Gardner and Tim1, I tried hovering over each of your names, to the left of your messages, right? Nothing. If I double click I do get your member pages. Am I doing what you're doing?

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

I get the popup, LAS. And thankz everybody, for alerting me to this nifty little function!

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

That's the same way it was for me until a few days ago. Now, yes, if I hover over the user name to the left, I see when the member joined and if they are a subscriber.

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

LAS, I forget what browser you are on. But I'll bet you have something going on akin to "block all popups from this site."

Albany, ME(Zone 4b)

If "block all popups" would kill it, then I bet that's the culprit. Thanks!

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

I have pop-ups blocked, but now I can see the info when I hover over the user names. I haven't unblocked the pop-ups.

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

Yeah, it SHOULD be a "tool tip" for browser purposes but who knowz ... so much going on these dayz with the transition to Windows 8 and mobile apps ....

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

I don't really want to turn off the feature here so I'm happy with things the way they are.

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

I have popups blocked but can see the hover-over notes, they're not the same as popups.

Right.

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

That's what I'm saying, it's apparently not a popup issue & should appear for LAS.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

I'm on Mac/Safari, and I also block pop-ups…But I've always seen this feature! Just mouse over a name…yes, just to the left of the post, and it's always shown, for me anyway, the date of joining and the status of subscriber….

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Just started showing that for me.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

It's definitely a personal settings issue if you cannot get it to work. But it has been there for quite some time :-)

Here's another example of the mind-boggling variability that web programmers have to deal with these days. This is from a web site offering tips for using healthcare.gov, but it's a list of which browsers work best with which operating systems. Maybe it's only for healthcare.gov, but it might apply to other websites, like Dave's Garden as well.

They left out Windows 8.1 and Internet Explorer 11, which I use.

I have never been able to use this function even though I knew it was there, but due to some other site communication problems I had to change some settings and now this function works for me.

Albany, ME(Zone 4b)

Seedfork, what function are you referring to?

Enterprise, AL(Zone 8b)

Hovering over the user name, and having the info pop up.
