Fall foodies!

Thomaston, CT

Don, there is a recipe....& yes, Romanesco is a broccoli cauliflower cross, but mashes up more like cauliflower....will get the recipe from my sister & will post it then......Pixie....those cookies sound awesome!

Westbrook, CT(Zone 6a)

Thanks, Robin.
We had spaghetti tonight, using up the last of the frozen tomatoes from last year.
Tried Ken's Vidalia Onion dressing for the salad. Sweeter than most dressings but nice taste.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

I like a good Vidalia onion dressing. YUMMMM

Thomaston, CT

I've never tried an onion dressing....sounds good, though. Today, a friend & I are heading to a favorite pizza place......

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Yum!!! Making turkey meatballs now. Thinking I'll make mashed potatoes and cauliflower and a salad.

Thomaston, CT

I've made turkey meatballs with spinach & lots of garlic......think it was Rachel Ray's recipe......

I'm home all day with the snow and all I want to do is eat - anything!

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Funny how we crave food when it's cold and yucky. I could eat almost anything today, mostly foods I don't have on hand... to my dismay. I have half a pork tenderloin I cooked 2 days ago, baking potatoes, and salad fixins'. It will have to suffice.

Finally had a call from my sis. She is stranded in town (today is her day off) and got a motel room for last night and tonight. I guess she'll eat fast food and get home tomorrow night after work if they plow our road.

This storm affected the whole east coast.....I guess only FL didn't get snow or ice.......yes, Memory, I was eating more than I ever do.....but the good thing is I'm not hungry now, so a bowl of soup will be my dinner!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Celeriac, Green Apple and Chestnut soup.

Thomaston, CT

That sounds yummy....I often use celeriac in place of mashed potatoes......

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Last time I made mashed taters I also included cauliflower. YUMMMMMM!!! I've never tried celeriac.

Thomaston, CT

Slight celery taste, but I like it......friend made dinner yesterday...sherry & apple pork chops....today I have to cook, Lord knows what, have to get to the store first!

Thomaston, CT

Making pork stew right now...... white wine, chicken broth, sweet potatoes & escarole, onions & garlic....should keep me warm!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Going to have tomato soup for dinner (from a can!) with cheese toast.

Thomaston, CT

I never make toasted cheese, & I really like it, too......have to remember to make it!

Westbrook, CT(Zone 6a)

Greek turkey meatballs, skillet macaroni and asparagus. OK, but I think I like to try the meatball recipe using lamb instead.

Thomaston, CT

Mmm...sounds very good.....today's paper had a recipe for apple meatloaf which I'll try for Sunday...still waiting for my sister to remember to bring the Romanesco casserole....will remind her on Friday!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Apple meatloaf....sounds interesting!!!

Thomaston, CT

Basically it's just regular recipe with a cup of grated apple added....supposed to keep the loaf moist....I usually buy 90% lean beef, so this should help.....

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Will have to remember that

Westbrook, CT(Zone 6a)

"Blow, blow, thou winter wind!" , so it was chile for supper. (a natural for chilly weather!)

Considering the title of this thread, maybe we need a new one before winter's over.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

50 and sunny

Thomaston, CT

If anyone can start a new thread, please, go ahead! Cranberry stuffing in pork chops for tomorrow.....

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Yum!!!

Just hand over that toffee.......looks amazing!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

RD, I could picture you saying that, then adding.....and no one will get hurt!!! It does look mighty tasty, Memory.

Roast chicken, mashed taters and gravy and some fresh green beans. Tonight I'm thinking I'll make a shepherd's pie with the leftovers.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

corned beef sandwiches last night

Westbrook, CT(Zone 6a)

Sausage and peppers over pasta. Made too much, as often happens, so lots of leftovers.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

hash made from leftover corned beef

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

We had the traditional New England boilded dinner with all the root veggies this weekend. Since one DD is now trying to be Vegan, I made hers with Portabella mushrooms in place of the corned beef, and it was tasty.

Thomaston, CT

Back home & back cooking.....making London Broil with teriyaki sauce, fresh asparagus & mashed sweet potato.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

YUM!!! Don't think can make it in time for dinner, though.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)
