Photo marks

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

I just noticed that Dave added photo markings on the photos we post now! Is that cool or what!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Not following you Zany, what photo markings? I just checked a couple new photos and didn't notice any difference.

haighr

Here's an example of one with the marking http://davesgarden.com/showthread/133577.html. If you click on the pic to view, you will notice the copyright in the bottom right hand corner.

Zany gets the prize for being the first to notice this new feature. Of course, Zany had the advantage because she knew that I was working on this already.

I'm thrilled to have completed this task. It wasn't easy to automatic image manipulation via the web, but my intelligence coupled with years of programming experience has made it possible. :-)

That's the patent Dave's Garden customer service at work, folks, protecting your intellectual copyrights. :)

Well Zany was up late again, at 2:12am. Then again in her time it would be about 11:12PM.

Dave's intellect and computer training mad it possible once again!

And Tim it was my keen eyes and highly deveolped observation skills that made me notice...that and the fact I had been wondering how and when Dave would manage to do it! (Knowing to watch for it didn't hurt either!)

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

i was once leery to post photos before, i 1st notice the copyrights when i posted some pictures from my garden this morning. http://davesgarden.com/showthread/133924.html way to go Dave ;o)! Thank You... Thank You... Thank YOU!!! ma vie

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Intellect? I'm so dumb, I saw it and wondered how the member got it on there!

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

Aimee ... i believe, if not mistaken, soon as we try to post a photo... before it get shown for viewing, the copyright logo is stamped on the photo. Dave must have created a program to automatically to do that. at least that is how i percieve it to be. Dave could not be sitting there, twiddling his thumb waiting for a photo to come in... hehehehe. right Dave???

a program task makes it possible to create a program within a program... if one knew how... ma vie

Dave, once again thanks for protecting your guests and looking out for us on the web. This is what makes your site above and beyond! Thanks! Lisa

Actually Dave prints out a copy of the photo as soon as it submitted, then mark it, then scan it back onto the server. :)

Yes Tim! And now he is working on a way for us to mail plants and seeds over the internet so we can avoid the postal radiation and the smashed packages! We will just scan them to DG and folks can pick them up here...LOL!

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Well, I have been 'saving' photos of things I want in my garden, from photos posted in DG. Now, I can no longer download those photos, copyright notwithstanding. Too bad, because some of you have posted great photos.... enough to mae me lust after a plant/flower.

Darius,

You should still be able to download the pictures. The copyright text will still be there, of course, but I made it intentionally small and (hopefully) out of the way.

Are you saying that you are actually unable to download the image, or the copyright image is making them unusable?

dave

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Dave, when I clic on a photo and choose 'download' I do get a download... of a Netscape page, which when I try to open, taes me nowhere. I used to be able to just move a photo off the page which would copy it, and save it that way. Now, if I do that, I get a 'clipping path' which opens to text, and the copyright, but no photo.

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

Darius... try to right click ur mouse. click on save image as to wherever u wish to save the photo u wish to copy. hope that helps... ma vie

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

Dave... u got my curiousity! i don't agree with Tim's theory about the copyright on the photos. is my theory close???

i happen to disagree with Tim's theory cause when i download a photo... it is instanteniously uploaded for view. scanning and posting will take time i believe. or am i wrong. i stand corrected if i am... ma vie

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

MaVieRose ! Tim is having a little joke!

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

well then, he deserve some spanking... LOL! there are people who'd be interested to know too. Tim reminds me of my son. and my son knows i can play tricks too sometimes... hehehehe. maybe i will try to pull one on him too ;)! watch Tim... this mama knows how to play games too. HAHAHAHAHA!!! ma vie.

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

ROFLOL! Lookout Tim! Ma Vie is gonna get ya!

Palmyra, VA(Zone 7a)

Saint Petersburg, FL(Zone 9b)

got some plants to email hope Dave gets it up and running soom

Darius,

I think that this can be solved. Next time you want to save a photo off Dave's Garden, do these steps:

Right click on the image, and a menu will appear.
Then, click on "Save image as".
Then, locate the directory on your hard drive where you want it to be saved, and click Ok.

Please try this and let me know if it works.

Dave... Might be a good idea, but I have a 1-button ADB mouse! Remember, I am a Mac user. However, I will try to select a photo and 'save as' but I think I already tried that. I will try it again now, and edit this post. Thanks.

PS... a single click of my mouse opens up a menu, and among the choices is 'save image'.

So, Thanks, Dave. Problem solved!
