October Blooms
I forgot on the "stop sign corner" there's a red knockout rose, as well, but it needs a little trim to get blooming again. :~)
Great selections!
Dollie, you have a lot of lovely plants, are your coneflowers blooming at this time?
Frostweed, they are blooming, but I must confess I have only recently planted them, already blooming. The two I put in the sun are wilting by the end of the day, but perked up by morning. The one in the shade is happier, but will likely bloom less once established. I got several so I could experiment. :~)
Newton, that lily is gorgeous--made me want to plant some!
Frostweed---You were asking Dollie if her purple coneflowers are blooming now, I started some from seed last summer. This August as I was giving various plants a haircut, I noticed that all of the branches of the coneflowers were done blooming so I cut the bloom stalks off close to the ground. In 3-4 weeks, they had put up new bloom stalks which are still blooming today. They are shorter than the first round but still very nice blooms. Don't know if I just got lucky, but I will certainly try this again next year (if I can remember. LOL)
Yes, I was asking because my coneflowers have stopped blooming and I love them.
I will have to try cutting the stalks to the ground next year, I didn't do that this year and I wish I had.
Thank you for the report.
Josephine.
Cheryl, great bloom, aren't they a neat flower???? I have about 10 bulbs of the red in the ground and 5 or 6 of the yellow. I only had one bloom so far. Can't wait till next year!
We had a short gully washer yesterday and today so I am hopeful that more of my rain lilies, belladonnas, and spider lilies will bloom.
Dollie, you give people a nice reward for stopping at the stop sign.
Two of my 4 bulbs bloomed and they are so pretty.
I b need to try cutting back the coneflower s myself.
Very nice Michael, mine are blooming too, they are so pretty.

Shoot yeah, Stephanie--just say the word!
Gorgeous flowers Stephanie, we missed you at the swap.
I missed being at the swap and seeing everyone, but we really needed to be at the function at church.
I always notice a spider living on the ones the cats dont use...
The yellow trumpet brugs are all over everywhere down here- you cant turn around without seeing them.
Roux he is a chubby fellow, should make a gorgeous butterfly. I have a spicebush chrysalis that is so close to eclosure that I can see the wings in great detail. I think anyday now and I hope the cat doesn't find him before I do.
Wow Cheryl !! that Mountain Sage, Salvia regla is amazing, I love it. Mine gets too much shade so hardly any blooms.
You sure grow some amazing carnivorous plants, they are gorgeous!!
Beautiful Cheryl! I noticed that my predominant color now is yellow as well. I love, love that Salvia. Could you save me some seed for the Spring RU? Those pitcher plants are so photogenic, with their interesting patterns and beautiful colors.
I have 2 Salvia r. and neither has produced seeds.
