How come the County Fair don't show up somewhere on the home page like other years ?

Bernie, I just haven't put up the banner yet :-) The good news is, we've made it easier to find the contests than they were in past years, which is part of why we had to have the banner.

Well, where is it. I only see 8 entries so far.

Terry, could the announcement banner be larger? I did not realize it was there....and yesterday. I don't think many folks are aware of it. It seems to blend in with the DG tabs. Thanks.

Where is this banner ?

It's right beneath the tabs across the top.

Bernie, it is in small print at the top of the page immediately below the tabs "Forums", "Plant and Seed Trading", "Gardening Journals", "My Journal", etc...

If the font cannot be changed maybe the color should be changed so it stands out somewhat.

Must be awful small because I can't see it at all.

CountryGardens, have you figured thingz out yet?
I would imagine that you eventually clicked out of that post & saw that the banner appearz near the top of the page when you are looking at a forum page or the home page, NOT individual posts.

I myself would like to have a life so simple & on track that this qualifies as a "mess" on any given day. But, alas, no such luck.

There does appear to be a banner problem. Most interestingly, I can only see the banner if I log off of my DG account. When I log on again the banner disappears. I am using Firefox (v 23.0.1 up to date). I get the same results with Safari. The 3 screenshots attached below were all done in Firefox. They depict:

(1) After I logged off - Note banner is shown
(2) After I logged back on, Home page, - no banner
(3) After I logged back on, Daves Garden Forum - no banner

I did the 3rd screenshot for comparison with the one posted by rockette above on Aug 30.

DreamofSpring, we are working on it - it appears for some and not for others. But the good news is, we're going to extend the deadline for submission by a week just in case some members haven't heard the news and had a chance to enter their photos yet. We can still wrap it up in time to not bump into the annual photo contest later this fall :-)

It's not a big problem for me, at least not for this event, although I would like to receive future broadcast banners. The bad news is that there may well be people out there who still don't know about the event or even that they are not receiving banner messages. I found out about this an hour or so ago when I logged out by accident and saw the message. Some people may not find out until it is too late. I'm wondering if you should consider broadcasting a dmail, or would that also not reach everyone? (I'm just thinking about all of the yelling and complaining that is likely to occur...)

We are working on a way to alert people (but we never send out mass dmails or messages to our members...talk about yelling and screaming...whew.)

That's odd. I was sure I recalled receiving one or two very rare messages of the type back in the old days. Attached is the only one I could locate quickly. Anyhow, I'm sure you will know how best to handle the situation. I was only trying to help.

That message went only to people who had a tradelist. We've never - to the best of my knowledge - sent out a mass message to all members.

The banner does not show on my home page but it does appear in other places showing the contest announcements. Strange!

In the home page preferences what is the" News From Dave?" Could the contest be announced there?

The message about the fair just showed up on my screen (while I was logged in). It is now showing up in at least 3 places: my home page, the main forum pages, and even w/in individual threads. Just wanted to let you know. Whatever you were trying seems to have worked. Thanks.

I have posted 5 entries but when I want to look back at my entries, nothing shows when I click on that op.
