Question about double posting

Albany, ME(Zone 4b)

As far as I can find out, no one has suggested that people visit www.OpenDaysProgram.org, published by the Garden Conservancy. I've been looking at Garden Showcase albums and think so many would be great candidates for this program. I'd like to share the information with as many DG folks as possible. I'd thought about posting to Perennials, Cottage Gardens and Garden Showcase (the forum). How strong is the prohibition against multiple posts? Is there a better way to spread the word?

To borrow a line from the eTrade commercial, "Cross-posting is frowned upon in this establishment." In all seriousness, it tends to irritate folks, and so we tend to remove the extras and leave only one.

I didn't know that. Sometimes I have something appropriate for say Garden Art and Trash to Treasure. Not all people watch similar forums and so I post to both. My apologies - didn't realize.

Does this apply to posting a thred url on another forum ?

Do you mean referring back to your original thread with a link? Yes and no. That is preferable to creating a multitude of identical posts on various forums, but it should still be used with some caution.

People can get excited about something and want to tell the world, and so they exuberantly post notices everywhere. But to most readers, seeing those posts (whether it's a link or the entire text) is a little like watching TV and every channel has the same commercial showing.
