Bad list of forums in Advanced Search

Albany, ME(Zone 4b)

I tried and tried to find postings that would help me find how to make a quotation. That is copy someone else's comments in a more sophisticated way than ctrl/c ctrl/v. I've seen it done. I searched for "quote" and "quotation" and wanted to refine it to limit it to "Dave's Garden." But everytime I went to Advanced Search I got the subset of forums you see in the attachment. This is not a list of forums where I got hits, as I got hits for sure in several others. I couldn't scroll down below Parking Lot. Is this a temporary glitch?

Note - it would have been really helpful if Advanced Search let me specify "subject only." I never did find out how to make a quotation.

TIA

Click on the quote link under the poster's name will quickly show you what you are asking for (I think). I highlighted the link with a red oval.

Yes, thanks! That's it.

It is pretty easy, but here's the FAQ when you search from the home page: http://davesgarden.com/sitewidesearch.php?q=quote

I've always wondered how people get partial posts. It seems I sometimes see part of a post (for example: one paragraph) in a quote box, but every time I've tried it, it grabs the entire post.

You can always remove the parts you don't want after you click on the quote link.

Are you serious? That's way too easy! Thanks hcmcdole!!!

Yep. Just be sure to leave in the end "/quote" tag with brackets around it.

In case anyone else has experienced the problem I described at the beginning of this post ("subset of forums"), here's the solution. I expected a vertical scroll bar. By accident I just started arrowing down and found that I could scroll. But the best approach (which I think someone told me about years ago) is to just start typing in that forums field. If you type D it scrolls to Dave's Garden.

The advanced search feature on the forums page seems to have disappeared - I don't see any means of narrowing search to forum or user as it existed before these improvements. Can we hope to have this feature back?

The Advanced Search comes up after you initiate a search. I will see what we can do, but that's a tweak that will take a secondary priority to completing fixes already in the lineup.
