Will this ever get fixed? Every few months I enter my zip code and for the past few years (?) it has never been correct. As I recall, there was an effort to remedy this but apparently that just went away... Does anyone know the status of this bug?
Zip code...sigh
OK then, bye bye.
I am bonehead on this one !
This issue has been up in the air for YEARS, promises made, but no action !
The zip code feature WAS one of the most
helpful features on this site. I always read
thru to see if other areas of the country with similar climates are able to succeed with
a given plant. I KNOW many others dp the
same.
If yall cant find or afford a program that can
match a zip code with the correct municipality
it pertains to, then why don't you DITCH what
you are using, and allow us to simply enter city, state &/or country ourselves ?
At least that way it would help us "internationalize" - another iniciative to which lip service is given but no action is taken. I wish we could get the old Daves back !
I have stopped putting zip codes in until
you get your act together. I have them all saved up if & when it ever gets corrected ----
bump !
BajaBlue, good luck getting the attention of anyone in the admin -- I can't remember how many posts in how many forums I have tried to get a response to this. I'm with you, this has been ongoing for years with no movement. I refuse to enter erroneous information so I'm just not paying any attention to the zip code information, and sadly, using other garden sites rather than DG. Very disappointing.
All I can say is it seems to be harder than it looks. We have not found an easy solution to it, but I will bring it back up to the tech team to see if any new solutions are available.
Checking in again - still not working properly. It seems it would be fairly simple to match up a zip code to a post office, I'm sure there are lists available from the USPO. My guess is this just got put on the back burner until all the other hullaballoo gets straightened out. Months and years to 'fix' problems, though...?? Who has that kind of patience?
.
Nope, still not functioning properly.
We have filed a request for a fix.
glad to read a request for fix has been filed, but I thought that was done years, yes, years ago. That's how long we've been bit#$%& about it. It drives me crazy and it weakens the reliability/completeness of the PF which I love and to which I am committed.
Is this the worst problem in the world? Of course not, it barely rates as annoyance factor but when does it move up in the queue?
vossner, we did fix a lot of the ZIP codes back in 2011. The problem is the ones that have cropped up since. We've requested to have admin access to the table, so we can manually fix them as they come up, instead of having to send them to a tech to fix.
Oh my...have not been here since my husband died almost a year ago. let the subscription lasp...many medical bills to catch up on. Come by to see whats going on and oh my goodness..totally "foregin" site. No ZIP updates since 2011??? Don't know what to say...signed up here on 9-12-2001, I *think*. Getting back to "It is what it is, one day at a time" I guess.
WELL, I DONT KNOW ABOUT WHAT OTHERS HERE THINK, BUT
THE ZIP CODE FEATURE IS ONE OF THE MOST VALUABLE TO ME.
I HAVENT GIVEN UP, HOPE MANAGEMENT HASNY EITHER !
How many are wrong that hv 2 b manually fixed? must be a daunting task but I was thinking, 365 days x 3 yrs = 1,100 plus, seems that fixing just ONE /day could hv appeased 1100 people by now...
I also think this data point is very important & useful when accurate.
